Stock plate question?

I have a 96 4x4 CTD. The performance has a lot to be desired. Can I move the stock plate for a performance gain?

I was told the stock plate can not be moved, if it can be done, can I do myself? Is it difficult to do?

Yes the stock plate can be moved, but be careful! The reason that I have not done it is because it runs the EGT's up all along the rpm's. The aftermarket plates control the fuel to the rpms where it is best used(powerband. . sweet spot). I know guys that have moved the stock plate,but they have guages and they watch them real close. Moving the stock one 1/16" forward makes a difference. If you dont have a pyro,,don't move it until you get one.

I've slid my stock plate all the way forward. THe only time my EGt's get in the DANGER ZONE is when I'm at WOT in 4th or 5th gear. Otherwise they usually stay in the 1000-1100 range. I am running the K&N RE-0880 filter and a straight exhaust, that might also have something to do with my temps running lower. It did help the power in mine, but I will be buying a fuel plate in the near future. My dyno sheet looked like a gasser with the peak HP at 2450 RPM's.
