I'm in the process of replacing the front springs on my 1997 dodge 2500 4x4, with the dana 60. I'm not sure if the old spring are stock or a leveling spring. Is their a stander measurement for the stock height. If so where do you measure it?
Thanks Dave

I know with my 74 bronco, you can measure top of axle tube to bottom of frame and it will tell you if its stock or a lift.

So, no one has ever dealt with this subject? Hard to believe, I've tried to search on here and come up with nothing. I guess I'll assume the truck doesn't have stock springs, so I'll look at leveling style of coils.

I checked ALLDATA and there was not much listed on the repair side of things. I don't have the auto body side that could have these kinda specs for frame repairs.

All I found was a listing for alternate Caster settings based on frame height. No master spec on factory ride height.

Sometimes www.allpar.com has a lot of factory info per year. If you do find something post it up.

Here is that Caster info and where they measure for that TSB.

Thanks, it's kind of interesting that their is no information out their. Like I said, with my 74 bronco, when you measure from the top of the axle tube to the bottom of frame ( 7 inches for front and 6 inches for the back) anything over those measurement, will be lift above stock. I'll see if the body shops might know.

You might call some spring makers to see if they know...you can't buy a proper replacement if you don't know what it's supposed to be. The only number I might be able to get is from a stock reg cab 4x4 manual with 200k+ miles.

My '02 3500 QC is 25.75" to the front bump stop. The tries are a stock 235/85R16. As far as I know the 2500 and 3500 fronts are the same. The spring has 6 coils.

Is that from the ground up to the front bump stop? If so, mine measures 22 inches and the tirers are 285/75 R16.

If I see yours with your massive tires I would say it is definitely leveled or even lifted.
That's what I'm thinking , it may have a leveling kit up front. The rear looks stock, here are pics of the rear. My dad was the second owner, and the truck did have 33/12.50/16.5 tires, till I got it and changed to 16 inch.

Check out generalspringkc.com part # 350-1203SD. I installed them in my '99. These are stock height. Great customer service form here. 2354# rate.
They also carry a variety of "lift" springs

My axle to bump stop distance is 3" on both sides. This is with new made to spec. stock springs from Coil Springs Specialties. I also have about an additional 100 pounds over stock DOR aluminum bumper up front.
