Does anyone know the stock size that came from the factory on a 98 3500 qc... ... ..... i have 215's and am fixxin to go up to a 235... which size was stock and how bad will it throw off my speed o when i go up to 235's... or is my speed allready off if the truck origanilly came with 235's and it has 215's on it/

Look on the driver's side door jamb at the GVWR/GAWR/tire inflation sticker. It should show the tire size that was original equipment on the truck.

The door jam isn't always true. My truck shipped with 265's and the door says 245's (I only know this 'cause my laywer wanted to know when I got a speeding ticket). Zack - mount the tires and check your speedo with a GPS. If it's off a whole lot I beleive SuperLift makes a product to adjust your speed sensor readings called the TrueSpeed or something close to that.

I would check the door but the body that painted my truck painted over it... ... ... ... . ouch... . i was alitl ******... anyways it has 215s but i dont think thats what it came with... .

Zack,

My 1996 3500 came with 215's. I don't believe 235's were standard equipment until Dodge changed the wheel backspacing somewhere around 2000 or 2001. My 2002 came with 235's.

Rusty

Rusty is correct - 215's stock on 3500 in 98. 235's are stock now.

Ben - The sticker should be correct. The dealer more then likely changed them from 245 to 265 to help sell it. my 92 was purchased with 12. 50/16. 5's which the dealer put on there. Stock was 235/85-16's.

ok 215's were stock, thanks for that bit... . so which year did they start puttin 235's on stock? Is there a part i can take off a newwer truck to make the speedo correct?

My door sticker also says 245 but the truck came with 265's and I'm pretty sure the dealer didn't do it. Maybe they're an upgrade with the tow package or camper special?

Jim

Not to pick a bone here but unless both dealerships in Anchorage swaped _A LOT_ of 2500 4x4 tires from 245's to 265's they shipped with the 265's. And I have checked my speedo to my GPS. It is very, very close to dead on. Wouldn't the size difference cause a small but noticeable difference?
