Has anyone found any fixes/cures for injector rattle?
I bought my 03 with 240k and put new Bosch Motorsports 50hp inectors in it right away. It seems that over the last 20k, the rattle has gotten worse. It occurs around 2100-2400 RPM. That's right in my interstate cruising speed and loaded shift point.
I know about checking injector lines and clamps...mine are original.
What else should I check out? I know it doesn't hurt it, but it sure is annoying. I just run straight #2 with no addative except for white bottle power service when single digit temps are expected...which is rare around here.
It seems to do it less with stock timing and worse with added timing.

Buy a set of BBI injectors, they guarantee no combustion rattle. :) Expensive but one solution.

I have about 15k on mine and at road rpms, 1900-2100, mine are real quiet. However, I have a different piston and am running timing mods with the Smarty.

I also run a steady diet of PS and 2 stroke oil due to the crappy constitution of the fuel. Possibly an injector cleaning might help if they are starting to gum up. I have found that will sometimes cure noisy injectors if the problem is a build up in the system.

I 2nd BBi... injector rattle, what's that :)

It could be related to the TST and how it changes timing and/or rail pressure.

Yep, that's called timing or "power rattle" for a reason. Stock injectors and stock programming will get rid of it. :D

My truck has more timing rattle on stock tuning, when I had stock sticks, than any other tune.

I haven't even heard the slightest bit of rattle on these injectors. I haven't ran the widest range of timing with them as I had a good tune with the stock sticks/pistons, but nothing.. nada... zip...

What levels are you running the TST on? You mentioned stock timing vs added timing, are you also running Smarty software? Are you stacking the two?

But when does it add 8 deg? Either way that could be a lot of timing on top of the stock 03 HO map.

TST torque setting of 9...your OEM CP3 cannot meet the demand, 4 is really taxing it to it's max. You are adding that to the Smarty tune, surprised your egt's are not through the roof. I know TST claims 3/3 - 4/4 as guideline for stock trucks, plus you have Smarty. 5/2(any TST program) on the TST is all your CP3 can maybe maintain wo/Smarty, I would put in the Smarty box tune of your choice, then if needed/wanted you could start bumping up TST on power only, 1 - 2 - maybe 3 before you start losing power and causing unwanted rattles.

IDK, I assumed...when he mentioned "stock timing" vs "added timing" that he was referring to the odd/even sw's. That's what assuming gets you...

I only have the tst. I'm not sure where the smarty came in.
Level 1 on the tst is supposed to be timing only and the tq setting isnt supposed to have any effect...but it does. 1/9 feels great empty. I ran 2/4 today pulling 8k and it really felt good.
I have no idea where in the curve the tst adds the timing. Default is 12 degrees "automatic". I ran 9 today, but in correction to what I posted above, Ive been running 6. I'd like to swap the tst out for a smarty jr, but it's not in the cards at the present time. I may dial the timing back some more and see how it does.

Sorry for the confusion about the Smarty. When my original R37 TST(early 03 twins program) started to fail, I was experiencing all kinds of weird timing rattles, since I had it upgraded to the 4 present programs, 03 twins / 05 twins / standard / economy, there is no longer any timing rattle. The TST just sets in my ash tray now days, never use it since Smarty is working so well.
