My 2500/1994 Ram was parked 20'away from my 5th wheel, since 3 weeks and in full view. One morning I found out that the stop lights were ON. Checked the stop light switch according to the manual - was OK. After reinstalling it, lights were out. 3 days later stop lights ON again. Replaced the stop switch. OK for 2 or 3 days. I placed a switch on the power line to the brake magnets in case it would happened while returning home (it did not happened). When the lights were ON, the fact that I disconnected/reconnected the batteries did not switch OFF the lights.
Lucky I had this switch because on my departure day the trailer brakes were locked. While driving for 8 days the lights never came on. At the present time, I disconnect the batteries when not in use. The dealer wanted to keep my truck for 1 week but I said no. This started deep in Mexico and I saw my bill written on his forehead. Advice appreciated.
