IMO: Prodigy. But be warned there are several look alikes and a few software up date versions, just look for the latest. I have tried several and for me it works great.

I would have to second one for prodigy, I have tried a few different ones and I like the features, and ease of using the prodigy.

The most popular controller is the Prodigy. If that makes them the best, then McDonnalds burgers are the best on the planet.

I would have to third for the Prodigy. I have had mine 5 -6 years & no problems.

I really like my Jordan 2020 Ultima, but I hear they cannot be found anymore. It is much smoother than my Prodigy ever was. Maybe I had a bad Prodigy, but I had to change my settings on it every time I went from city to highway and back.

If my Jordan ever dies, I would look real strongly at the Brakesmart. Just a little expensive for the budget right now.

I have the Jordan 2020 Ultima as well. Set it and forget it. I prefer the proportional braking controllers; if my Jordan dies and can't be resuscitated then it's a Brakesmart for me.
There has been a lot of informed discussion in previous posts; you might want to do a search for older threads, it will still be pertinent.

I have the Prodigy P3 controller. I like it very well. I tow 3 different trailers. open, enclosed and dump. You don't need to set it for the different loads. Works very good. One thing I noticed about it was when you finally get stopped the voltage to the brakes goes down to less than one volt. That has got to save the magnet. -Jason

I guess the question I would have to ask is; whats your budget?
I use the Prodigy, and recomend it, if thats what your budget will allow, if I could afford the Brakesmart, I would use that.
some of it also comes down to the trailer, and the wire used to get from controller to trailer brakes, too small of wire with too big of a load and you can crank any brake controller up full throttle and still keep on smoking down the hill (personal experience).

I have NEVER heard of anyone who has used a Brakesmart say they would rather change to something else. I have had three or four controllers and now have a Brakesmart. I will never use anything else.



They are probably the most expensive controllers on the market. Buy one anyway.

Here's another vote for the Brakesmart. I've owned a number of controllers and this one is the best by far. Makes the whole rig feel like one vehicle.



If I needed another it would be a Brakesmart no matter what the cost.



If you've never used one, you don't know what you are missing. There is a lot of difference between good and best.
