I have the "new " muffler all welded up but I need you Straightpipe guys to talk me into it! I am still wortried that it will be way to loud. Is there any drone with this setup?? Anyone have any wav files for me to hear??Oo.

I could not tell the difference in the cab with the windows up when I took the muffler off. There was a little difference with the windows down but not much. If you leave the resonator on drone wont be a problem. GO FOR IT.

just do it

It will be a little louder but the rattlin cummins is still much louder than my exhaust. My resonater is still on the truck.

lose the muffler and don't look back:)

I straightpiped mine 2 months ago (resonator too!) and at highway speeds, 1800-1900 rpm in cab noise is not up too much. I do have a drone between 2000 and 2250 so I'm putting the resonator back on. With that said, definately do it but leave the resonator on. You'll love the F-16 that roars out the tailpipe :D

Go for it!!!!

I ran my 5" straightpiped but thought that it was too raspy. So I bought the biggest Donnalson 5" muffler and it turned out perfect. Lost the raspy-ness but it still ROARS.

At this point you might as well go for it. Everyone is different and it may be that you will like it. :)

No muffler, no resonator, no drone. Loud as loud can be.

Blows small children and pets off sidewalks everywhere.

Perfectly normal inside the cab with the windows up.

I went straight then went back to a straight through muffler. Too much noise for me and the drone was awful on long trips.

I saw on another post that if you go straight and get a lot of drone you can put a piece of 2" angle iron on the pipe with pipe straps and that will help. I will try that when i go straight pipe in the next few weeks if the drone is too much.

HTRDHLR, i initially went to a 4" turbo back exhaust with the aftermarket muffler, when i should have straight piped my rig the first time around... . this last weekend i FINALLY straight piped my truck to 5" dual stacks and i'll never go back again! i agree with everyone else that has chimed in so far, and as soon as you run straight pipe you'll also agree.

I lost the cat and muffler over a year ago and love it. No drone, not a big difference when windows are up. Love driving in the city with the windows down. Sounds great, just can't convince the wife of it. Besides, helps test the fancy car alarms.

I pulled my muffler and left my resonator about a year ago. With the windows up I can't really tell any difference. I can barely tell a difference with the windows down. When I notice a big difference is when I drive by a building or something with the windows down.

Maybe I am the exception here, but A friend of mine has a '02 2500 with a 5" straight pipe that is so obnoxious that I hate riding with him. You cant hear yourself think in the back seat, and it is hard to hold a conversation at a normal level in the front seat. I have a 4" with a dynomax bullet race muffler installed it is loud as hell outside the truck. Inside you hardly notice a difference.

I went to a 4" with no muffler or res. It is loud as hell outside but in the cab it's only hair different from stock. The only exception to this is right at 2k rpm. Then there is definately some cab drone (more like vibration). Just speed up or slow down and it's gone. I wouldn't do it any other way. go straight you can always go back later and put on a muffler.

I love my straight pipe, bought the truck with it, not loud in truck at all, however the droning outside causes my dog to poo in the bed, he never did this before I got the Dodge so I figure it must be the exhaust. :D

Straight pipe, no resonator! Wife likes it! My dad loves it! I think its awesome between buildings or hillsides. I have not experienced the drone at highway speed. Turbo did seem to spool faster. Go for it!

Finished it up tonight! Welded up a few brackets into the stock locations and also added a 5" stainless tip. Just drove it about 1 mile. I will let you guys know tommorow what I think, definatley is deeper sounding and seems to smoke less.

i just had mine straight piped and had a noticable drop in egts. on averave around town i run 100 cooler post turbo.

as for the sound ... ... . still smiling with 100 miles since it was done.
