Fellas,

I need a little advice. What do you recommend I do about a leaky drain plug in my Stratus. The mechanic at the dealer re-tapped the the hole, and put new plug in, but it still has a tiny leak.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Big A

Try putting a gasket made of rubber or cork between the factory washer and the pan. This worked for my truck when the sealing surface was distorted due to excess torque.

leaky plug

;) If I had that problem bud, I would look for a quick drain method type fixture so i wouldn't have to keep removing that plug that has already been compromised. I would then seal the treads of the unit with Leak Lock which is used in refrigeration threads. Should end the worry! Tim

Usually rather than tapping out the pan to a larger size most guys will use a self-tapping oversize plug, I'll bet that's what your tech used too. These tend to leak but can usually be fixed by using a non-tapping plug with the correct threads for the new oversize hole.
