stumble at start-up

Recently when I start my pride and joy it has been stumbling . It's not been a constant problem , and doesn't seem to change with the temp. , or the period of time that it sets. When I turn the key , it starts fine , then it will almost instantaniously , sputter/miss . The problem will usually leave as quick as it comes.

I have replaced the return , supply hoses and the pre-filter screen is clean . The grid heater is working and the guy behind the wheel is scratchin' his head.

Not sure if this will solve anything for you but, I notice a big improvement by replacing the sealing washers in the banjo fittings! I was suprised at the poor condition of the rubberized coating on the washers I removed. After starting and running after the new washers, it was VERY obvious that those things sucked a bunch of air. Located on top of the filter canister, inlet side of inj. pump, and return valve on engine side of inj. pump.

BCFAST where did you get the washers?? Part #? I went to a cummins shop and they just could'nt seem to find them.

I made all of my sealing washers for the fittings out of copper. Many can be found at hardware stores.
