You wrote a great story, Newf. You built us all up and dropped in the punch line. You even had me feeling sorry for the poor dummy that you were ratting on.

I'm gonna go check my hoses again, just because. #ad

Hey Newf --- If you think you are the only one of us that has done something really, really stupid, I've got this ocean front lot for sale in Tennessee !!!! Good post guy, lifted my spirits about ten feet when I realized I wasn't the only one to do something like that!

Great story Newf!! But tell me, how is a guy supposed to know there is a problem if you never drove a diesel before? I bought my CTD last June, never drove a diesel before just knew I had to have the Dodge with the Cummins. Truck runs great (I think) completely stock for now.

I read a thread here somewhere about a guy who bought a CTD and he didn't think it had the power he was expecting, maybe it was assembled by the same idiot as yours.

Dodger, does yor truck give you alittle shove back in the seat starting at about 1900 rpm to 3000 rpm when you jump on it? Min didn't. Never new it was supposed to be able to. Just wait until your engine has cooled off, and feel around the rubber turbo hoses. make sure you have a little bit of hose extending beyond the clamp. THEN, get out your socket wrench and tighten them!

Thanks Newf. The beast has been sleeping peacefully in the garage for the past 4 months but I'm bringing it out next week! In the meantime, like right now, I'm gonna check those hoses - just to make sure hopefully!

Mine (and me) had the same problem for a long time. Simply didn't know any better. I honestly thought that the "whoosh" (which sounds more like hydroplaning the right front tire across a BIG 1"-deep puddle) was the sound of my wastegate dumping. Once that clamp was tightend, I really felt like a dork..... I'm convinced that the intercooler portion of the assembly lines (mine's a Canadian, BTW) universally are lax in their duties. HEY, DODGE DEALERS, this problem has been occurring for at least 3 years, now. CHECK'EM BEFORE YOU SELL'EM!!!!!!
(that may be the reason some of them don't survive the test drive, and stay on the lot!)

I donno, Newf. If we're going to give out awards for things like this, I would like to refer you to my 24 hour search for a power off current draw. I posted for help back in January; some of you may remember it.

To summarize, I found both my Optima deep-cycle batteries dead after a four-day sit in a heated garage. My new digital multi- meter showed a five amp draw. I spent a couple of days — about eight hours of actual work time — searching for it. I tried pulling individual fuses and relays, disconnecting the alternator, even removing the taillights to ensure that I hadn't pierced a wire with a recent installation. The ultimate problem was that I didn't know how to read my brand new multi-meter. The batteries had gone dead from my leaving the cab lights on for four days.

It seems to me that not being able to read your own meter should put one in the competition for this award, don't you think?

I believe I have all of you beat. I bought my first Cummins in 1992. Great truck but after my wife and I adopted a six year old boy, the reg cab was too small for us and the dog. I sold it and bought a 99 PSD!!!
Who can top that for an act of stupidity?
It's too bad you guys will never the joy of driving away from the Dodge dealer, in a new ETH/DEE, and seeing that PSD in the rear view mirror for the last time.
