2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Suburban seats?

hey guys, I have been thinking of replacing my driver side seat. Not sure if I want to replace full seat or just do new foam in bottom. if I replace whole seat I was wondering if any of you have a Suburban with the integrated seat belts and maybe you could tell me by measuring or looking to see if the seat belt will work with the Dodge part where it connects. I might just go with a Corbeau seat but those are pretty spendy. Thanks.

Im thinkin' I might go with a Cobeau seat and a 5 point or 3 point harness. Any input?

I wouldn't bother with a 5 point, especially without a cage but I have some freinds with Cobeau in 3rd gens and really like them

I saw a guy in a '67 Chevelle hit the end of a guard rail head on at @ 80mph. He came around me on the interstate on a rainy Saturday morning. I was running @ 70mph. The car was nice, had wide rear tires. He hit some standing water in the right lane. It almost went air born, spun around into the center lane. The hood flew all the way across the road. I stopped and backed up to get out and see if I could do anything. I figured he was most likely dead. Just before I got to the car he kicked the driver door open and got out, dazed and confused, but no blood. I looked inside the car. It was setup for drag racing, no seats but the drivers with a 5-point harness. I'm sure that's all that saved him. The engine had pushed the firewall back and the transmission was in the rear floorboard area.

Ya, downside to a 5 point is if you roll you can't duck, your locked in. I've seen about 5 3rd gens roll, every time the driver survived because they layed over to the passenger seat. 5 points are great in situations like you described by could also be bad in other situations

Sounds like I might have to talk to Corbeau personally and see what is the best decision for me.

The seat belts won't snap together, Chevy to Dodge, but the integrated belts in the truck seats (and some Suburban) have both ends attached, with the latch attached to the seat next to the console. They will be a bit too narrow, though, leaving a pretty good gap, IIRC. Be sure to measure if you go that route... ...

I decided to not go with Suburban seats or Corbeau seats. All I did was swap the seat bottoms from pass to drivers side. Much better seat and will work for now. Thanks for the info on the Sub seats though.
