Do any of you guys have subwoofers under your back seat in your rams? I am thinking about putting some in mine but am not sure on what i can fit back there. I am sure i can get 10s but would like 12s if at all possible. Thanks

Haven't done it to my ram yet, but about the same size of space behind the seat in my 71 vette... . could only get a 10" in there + amp... . I think depth is the biggest constraint...

I have seen 10". I know Crutchfield has two 10"s subs that fit under the rear seat for the quad cab Link don't know about the mega cab.

I have a JL Stealthbox in my truck with a single JL 10 W3 DVC sub, driven by a JL 250/1 Slash-Series mono-sub amp and a Alpine headunit. I think the system sounds great, impressive bass from a single 10" sub. I really don't like the wooden sub boxes made to fit under the back set. The typically require a shallow sub that rated for a small enclosure. Because most wooden boxes are made of 1/2" or 3/4" MDF wood there is not enough mounting depth left for most subwoofers.

If you don't what to spend the money for the JL stealthbox, Q-Logic makes a fiberglass box to fit under the seat for a single 10" sub. The advantage about the Q-Logic box is you can select what sub you want and mount it yourself. Plus the Q-logic box is a fiberglass box therefore therefore thinner wall and you can mount a standard depth subwoofer.

Please keep in mind that I have only seen a couple wooden boxes for our trucks and there may be manufacturers that can make them deeper for standard subs.

The Q-Logic box can be found at Crutchfield or most other audio stores.

Welcome to TDR!

Do you have the fold-flat load floor? My local stereo shop recommended the JL sub enclosure and told me it would fit, but I'm not so sure.

Thanks!

I had to remove the fold flat floor on the passenger side. The stealth box fills the entire cavity below the seat, from the floor to the bottom of the seat.

I replaced my lower center console and have a custom box in its place and run a 12" sub. I bought the custom box off of ebay. It sounds great and I get to keep all of my storage under the seats. You can look at the picture gallery to see what it looks like. If you want the persons info let me know and I can get it for you.

Well what i would like to do is fit 2 10s under the back seat as i have 2 10"jlaudio W0s. Is this possible? are any of the so called stealth boxes able to be mounted on either side of the truck? thanks again

The only way to mount dual subs of any size under the back seat (that I know of) is to purchase a custom wooden box. There are several on ebay and other internet sites. Again the only thing I will caution you about is the speaker mounting depth. Make sure you can mount your speaker in the box prior to purchasing one.

The JL Stealthbox only fits the passenger side and is packaged with the 10" JL W3 sub.

CBurnside - I removed my under seat metal rack and had a MTX thunderform (composite) box with 2 10" MTX subs and a 200 watt amp installed under the seat. The nice part of the composite boxes is that they are air tight and are painted to match the interior (the little of the box you can see). The bass output, even through the seats, is incredible.

This thunderform box is one piece, and I comes standard with 2 MTX thunder4500 subs (definitely not as good as your JL's) - but the box/sub combination is match (enclosure volume) to ensuring optimal sound and bass output.

Not sure if you are considering something like this. I am definitely happy with mine. The link to Crutchfield provided by Black Pearl will get you to them if interested.

I actually made my own box out of fiberglass. Didn't want to spend the $800 for the JL Stealth box nor did I want to loose both sides for storage.

I removed the pass. side metal storage tray and formed a box in the area I wanted the sub box to cover and then layed plastic sheeting over the boxed in area and then layed in fiberglass/resin. I got a few layers down and then pulled the whole thing out. I then pulled the plastic sheeting off and layed up a few more layers of fiberglass to build up some thickness. Once I had it pretty thick, I put the box back into the space and cut it to size. I then made an 3/4" MDF top which I fiberglassed to the fiberglass "tub" Sanded it, painted it and put a JL Audio 10w3v2 driver in there, hooked it up to one channel of my JL Audio 300/4 under my driver's seat.

Not all steps have been covered but, you get the idea.

I pounds pretty good. Of course the wife and kids don't get to appreciate it like I do.

I sealed the whole storage area with dynamat and cut a custom fit mdf cover for the storage under the seat to install 2 10" subs. Only problem found was had to glue carpet to floor due to air pressure and had to dynamat rear tray to keep it from vibrating to much.

i have the infinity sound tried to hook up aftermarket head unit no sound from amp,was told needed a digital signal to turn factory amp on can any one help

I bought the Q-Logic sub woofer enclosure. Fits in the rear passenger storage space on the right side only. It takes a 10 inch speaker and with a separate power amp it kicks ***. You don't need two speakers trust me on this one. I had to turn mine way down cause it was blowing me out of the cab.

Mtx Thunderform

Athunderform will fit 2 polk momo 10 inch subs under the rear seat with space for a decent sized am as well. #ad

theres a link to my old setup

sub enclosure

MTX has a great sub enclosure. Holds one 10" sub on each side and an amp in the middle. It's a plastic type box. Seals great and sound great. Nicely tucked under the rear seat. I have pic if people are interested.

Unless they have changed from the 2 gen radios, you just have to hook up the extra wire in the factory harness to the power antenna wire in the aftermarket head unit. The amps are on the actual speakers, this wire supplies power to them.

I also made a custom box to fit a 10" sub but on the driver's side so I was able to keep the larger passenger side load floor. For a friend we built two fiberglass boxes - one for each side. I used the same approach as Chris. It was pretty simple and just took a afternoon from start to finish. Fiberglass cures pretty quickly. I have some pictures in my readers rigs here I think a standard 12" sub would fit fine. The single 10" gives plenty of punch for me though.

I have the MTX Thunderform under the rear seat with 2 JL 10'2, I think W3's, but can't remember, powered by a 1000 watt Alpine amp. Pheonix Gold seperates in the doors powered by a 320 watt Alpine amp, all controlled by a Kenwood DVD815 DVD/NAV system. Bass is clean and tight, and highs are clear and crisp. Sounds good for those road trips I always can't say no to!
