Ok, some issues I’d like to see addressed in a future edition of the TDR magazine, where the facts are separated from speculation:

What exactly is “Torque Management” on a stock truck?

Why is there a tsb and/or recall for the 2006 MY to install hoses on the fuel tank rollover valves but not for any of the older trucks?? Are some ROVs sealed and others open? How many years are affected? What’s the real scoop?

What is the real story on fuel filtration for the 3Gs? Who wants what? Dodge says 7 mic, rumor has it that Bosch says 5 mic, more rumors say 5 mic debris trashed the fuel system in tests? What’s real, what’s poop?

Why is the stock “Class IV” hitch only rated to carry 350lbs tongue weight without an equalizer hitch while every other class IV hitch appears to be capable of 10% of the max rated capacity (usually 1000 lbs tongue weight)? Is the stock hitch of inferior design and needs to be upgraded?

An in depth explanation of the third injection event, especially how it effects egts, fuel economy and power output would be interesting.

Just some issues that don’t seem to have any definitive answer on the forums. If any of them could be researched through DCX or Cummins via TDR’s connections that would be great.

The TDR mag is always an interesting read. The only bad thing is having to wait so long for the next issue! Keep up the good work!

Theres always the famous getting the most MPG out of your truck story.

Maybe theres some folks who have visited a truck building facility who could write an article about the trip.

Here's a hot one, visit a transmission shop and do a story on a performance rebuild of the automatic trans. That should get the brand "A" versus brand "b" boys really going.

Thank You

Thank you for your ideas. I will monitor this thread and continue to forward any/all story ideas directly to the writers.

Thank you!

I don't want to offend anyone but I'd like to see less of Joe Donnely's name in the different truck problem sections. For some reason I like seeing the answers come from regular members that use the website.

As I recall for the last issue Joe had been asked to comment on most of the member discussion areas so that's why you saw his name crop up so much. I don't remember the reason why though, I can't find my issue 55 :( LOL

X2... . I like seeing other members answers alsoOo.

Follow Up

Turbo Tim 1, we are certainly not offended, but Joe has more knowledge of Turbo Diesels than any other source that we know. We have him watch the web, answer questions and submit the text for use in the magazine; hence, his multiple entries in the magazine. A number of our members do not participate in the website, so it is all new material for those members.

If you can be more specific with your concerns, we will make every effort to address them.

Thanks!

I do realize that Joe has probably forgot more about diesels than I will ever know but there is something about seeing various members helping others in the magazine. There is definantely allot of information going from member to member on this site that could be very useful to the people that are magazine only people.

I guess for me it's kind of a pride thing for being part of the TDR and contributing, I like seeing my fellow members here help others. It seems like for the past two issues Joe has answered 75% of the questions himself and I will say his answers are great and informative but so are the ones from other members.

Is it possible to REALLY decipher the "Not Recommended for Slide- In Camper" disclaimer? I would appreciate an indepth article on the rumors and facts behind this (including a statement from DC if possible. )

Is it possible to REALLY decipher the "Not Recommended for Slide- In Camper" disclaimer? ...

Certainly. "Not recommended" does not mean "not safe", "will void warranty", or "illegal". One possible interpretation might be, "You can put a slide-in camper on this vehicle as long as you do not exceed the GVWR, tire and axle ratings. However, we think such a configuration is too close to the operational limits of the vehicle. Specifically, we think the higher center of gravity could adversely affect steering and handling. While you can install a slide-in camper on this factory-equipped vehicle, we recommend against doing so. "

I can understand Tim, one of the discussions printed in the last issue was from a thread which I posted in and felt I provided good useful information, but it was edited out. I know for sake of printing space most were greatly edited down. I guess what we're wanting to say is Joe's input is really appreciated, I love his articles I would love more than one per issue, but without sounding negative adding Joe's comments to no more than about 1/4 to 1/3 of the reprinted threads would be a good balance.

The fuel system is one of the biggest issues of the 2nd gen.

Article comparing what some of the DIFFERENT solutions have been,ie mechanical pumps, cam pump, electrical pumps.

The fuel system in general from the cannister, to the lp, to the VP44, and back to the tank.

Fuel cooling

Keeping the VP44 healthly

Fuel boxes, Smarty

How the VP44 calibration is done and what is the end objective of the callibration

I would like to see an in depth series of articles with step by step info on power and milage increases on 1st , 2nd and 3rd gen trucks that anyone can do, not just buy thei mega dollar bao tie it in with this expensive doo-hicky and blam 500 horses and 30 mpg, there are alot more newbies here now and im sure even the old timers could benifit from some of the tricks collected here. not everyone who drives a diesel can afford to hot rod it so how about some low buck mods also.
