Lost my clutch at May Madness. . Still here
Desert Dodge keeps putting me off. Last nite they said I'll get it this afternoon. They are 10 miles from where I'm staying. Get the idea that they are working on other stuff. The truck hasBeen at their place for 8days. Any suggestions on maybe calling a Dodge fone # or anything. I will need the # if there is one.
Thanks

They are the Great, Wonderful dealer that backed out of MM at the last week or so before the event. They are bult wads.
They are probably waiting for DC to decide if they will void your warranty cuz you were at MM.
My local 5 screw held my truck for about 12 days before telling me they voided the drive train and brake warranty.

Hi Fuzz, If there going to be that big of a pain maybe we can get a trailer and tow you back home. It seems to me one of our members in Denver had a car hauler. I'd sure try to help you if I can!

We in Sacramento, CA, just hired as a tile roofer a nice young man who just quit his job as a Dodge Service Advisor in Susanville, CA.
We asked him why he wanted to go back to roofing where he had several years experience. His answer: STRESS!! ie:Trying to make customers pay for items that should be covered by D/C!!
He told me my BOMBED 3500 would not even be touched by his dealership. He also said their diesel mechanic had NO experience, period!!

Instead of fooling around with a dealer, why don't you get together with Dr. Joe Donnelley and get yourself a REAL clutch?

Thanks all. I went out there this evening. And talked to the wrench. Gonna have it done tonight but too late to hitch up and go so I told 'em I'd get it in the morning. They gave me a rent a car,I couldn't beleive it. Guess I should of went out earlier. We will see what transpires in AM.
Terry thanks for the thoughts but have my
fiver down here,so I'm kinda stuck. At least I'm not paying for a motel room.

Fuzz-

When my local dealership gave me the runaround for 19 days(!!!!!), I got to the point where I'd go down there every day and give them a good talking to. Whenever I was dissatisfied with the service rep, I'd get ahold of the service manager. When I didn't like what he had to say, I'd call the dealership manager and bother him. It eventually took threats of calling the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce to get the local puke to quit screwing me around and replace my whole transmission and not just keep dorking with the failed gear, but I did get some action. You definitely have to keep on these guys, or they will make your life miserable.

Had my clutch replaced at K&K dodge in Wrightsville PA, I don't think this shop even has one star let alone five of them. But I dropped my truck off on a Wednesday night and I called Thursday to see how it was going they said it was going good and they called me at work Friday and said it was done and NO charge. #ad

I did not even buy my truck from them. Now they are the only Dealer that will see my truck.

Just because a dealership is five-star, does not mean you will get the best service. My local DC station is a no star, and it gets things done quick. The little guys appreciate the work.

I used to be a GM service manager and can relate to the stress. I was one of the nicer managers, and that adds to the stress as it is a lot easier to be rude and say "no" than be nice and go out of the way to please every customer.

You do have to be a big thorn to make sure things get done. Things get put off when a dealership gets busy. Legitimate things do happen to delay the work, but the manager shoud tell you that.

Everyone has horror stories, and not just we dodge boys. Every manufacturer has warranty service problems. The OEM people watch the warranty claims very close and the mileage also.

The single greatest factory to having warranty work done at or later than the 3yr/36000 cutoff was whether or not the person was a good customer. If we only seen them once or twice, we wouldn't think to sneak in any warranty work after the deadline. I have even done warranty work for a few thousand miles after the deadline just for a nice frequent customer. This will stir up the kettle some.

Calling the owner works on getting complaints taken care of. Works even better if the owner disagrees with the service manager. I know my boss did not like me. I think it had something do to with the diesel mopar I drove to work. The first time he seen it he said " Whose piece of @#^% is that?" I said "Mine, and if GM made a TRUCK, then maybe I would think about one. " The owner did not talk to me for a week. Actually I would not have thought twice about it, and I would never own anything but a Cummins Dodge.

nathanbush,

When you were a service manager, did you get a commision? The ones here do and I dont agree with it. Because then all the sudden you need to have this, and that etc... .

Sky,

I did not go the commission route. I had a choice of salary or commission, and I chose salary because of the dealership's size. The Normal rates for commission were in the 1 to 2% range based upon several different sales categories.
Those on commission do push the sales, because they do not get that much up front. I guess you lose some of that personal contact with the customer if you see him as your paycheck.

Fuzz... let me know if you need a hand. I'd be more then happy to find a way to get you towed back home so that we can get your truck fixed here.

E-mail me if I can help out!!!

Kev
