Competition 1000 hp 2000 ft lbs

Off Roading new lift!!

Many thanks to Joe Webb and the Sun Coast crew for coming up with a new product that worked flawlessly in it's first Beta test.

Jeff Garmon and Darren Morrison were both running the new Pro Loc 5 disk converter with improved billet shafts. Both trucks worked perfect, and Jeff ran his best EVER 1/8 mile lifting before the line.

Jeff normally runs mid 6's in the 1/8th at 114 - 115 mph. Jeff ran a 6. 39 lifting early at 111. It was a shame the shutdown area on the track was so short. His 60 foot was a 1. 504.

Darren blew a boot on his first pass. Darren normally runs 7. 0's at 101 mph and this weekend, he ran a 7. 11 at 76 mph, again loosing the boot at about 450 - 500 feet. Air intake temps kept him from running faster the rest of the day, but both Jeff and Darren will have that fixed by Atlanta.

Both Jeff and Darren said the converters were awesome. Sticking this kind of power is tough, but thanks to Joe and crew, it just got easier.

Thanks from the Garmon racing crew for you guys always thinking ahead and helping plant the power. Oo.

it sounds like you guys had fun. i will have to make it out there again one of these years so jeff can have a rematch with me.

so now there is 5 disks in the convertor? are they using the same stator's? i didn't think they were having any holding issue's with the 3 disks, but they must have been slipping to make them quicker?

this is not to start a flame fest i was just thinking out loud.

Jim,

If I remember, and I may not ;) Joe said Darren and Matt has some signs of slippage but they are not the average customer either. But whether they did or not slip, I expect this converter will last longer under race conditions.

Come on down, Jeff is always looking for something to race. What do ya think that 6. 39 would have been stretched out to the 1/4?

david

i can't keep up with him in a heads up race, i was just thinking back at tim-02 when i beat him in the final round. lets see a 6. 39 and add 3. 5-4. 0 sec it would have been a pretty dang good run. does jeff have the stock rear suspension under his pickup???

jim

Yeah that is fun isn't it. I have raced him a few times and to see it coming on so fast makes me want a little shot of NOS. :-laf

Jeff's modified truck, or what I like to call the test sled? :-laf It has the factory diff, but narrowed, coil overs and ladders. It isn't a four link.

His 10. 06 was on a 1. 62 sixty and I believe a 6. 5x eighth. This weekends 1/8 mile pass would of, should of, could of been his 9. I'm betting he gives it a try September 11th. ;)

i hope he makes it into the 9's. has he upped his hp a bunch? i know he had said when we were in muncy he was making around 550rwhp and in the 10's. this was 2 years ago so i'm sure it has changed. has he been on your dyno? i know his truck is very light which helps a bunch.

Unbelievable 60 ft time! I would give away my kids, stop drinking, sell all my Model A's, cease ingesting cheese burgers and attend a holiday dinner w/ my mother in-law for a 60 ft time like that. “Why to go Jeff!” And I second those kudos, Thank you Joe for an incredible performing transmission

(Sun Coast/Pro-loc) Your motto fits perfectly

“Some trucks have all the Fun…”

Jim, yeah two years ago Jeff had it around 550 hp ;) and was running high tens. He came out this spring around 700hp and ran 10. 0's.

Yes it's been on the dyno. Alot. :) Actually, Jeff uses it to tune his and some of his customers trucks. The drag truck weighs 3820 lbs. What is funny is the only place that is light is on the diesel boards. :-laf He actually lost a total of 800 pounds going from the steel body to the plastic one.

I just want to see a SAFE 9 then call it quits.

safety is awlways the most important thing. i fugured it had to be around 700rwhp based on the et's he was getting. 800lbs just in the body change, wow!!!!!!

jim

Now bear in mind Jim, that's with Jeff's rear in the seat. That's 230 lbs there. If only Jeff's weight was around 130. Oh well, still fast.

. . Preston. .

Oh no. I hope I didn't start a ballast war. Will I get pitched from the site? Heck. I'm about 12 lbs too much myself.

i saw on your dyno sheet that he dyno'd 600rwhp is this the same truck? did he change his setup on the track. low 7's is moving out pretty good for 600rwhp. is his truck lightend at all. i really need to get out there to see some of these trucks run.
