PM Member "Moremph" he has a mid-90's model Ford F-250 (he runs with a lot of Dodge guys so he has a membership here) slightly modified. He purchased a used Suncoast from a friend selling his truck. Well after just a small amount of flogging on the drag strip it went ca-put. Suncoast said its a month out of warrenty and said "TOUGH" :-{}

We've also had another one of our KYDTR boys bust a Suncoast recently, I can't remember who though? I think they were denied warrenty as well... . I will see what I can come up with.

I could be wrong, but Darren Morrison seems to have no trouble out of his, and he only leaves the line at 20+ lbs, and comes out the big end at 130 + mph. but then again, he is only making around 9 bills this year.

I think what you will find is that questions about specific trannies generally tun into an "I got a friend who..... " or "my buddy... . " deal.

I didnt know the warranties were transferrable? And I doubt that Suncoast, DTT, ATS, HTS, GBT, or anybody else would let somebody hang like that. They may not GIVE you a new transmission if you buy a used one and blow it up, but they would work with you I'm sure.

I have the SunCoast TC & VB in my truck. It's worked great. BUT I don't do any racing or pulls either. BUT I do a lot of towing of my 12,000 5th wheel back and forth across the country.

Granted I'm not trying to BASH (since we like to emphasize:-laf ) anyone, nor do I try to bash certain brands... . except maybe Banks :-laf ... however I'm speaking from first hand knowledge not "oh I heard this from so and so who heard it for his cousin" These are boys that I hang out with, go to pulls with..... not just some Adam I barely know. The truck was hardly thrased on... just a few simple shake down runs and BOOM! Now was I there no  :-laf ... but just don't try and say I'm throwing out BS... . I even told him to PM the member who's transmission went ka-put to get it straight from the horses mouth. ;)

I'm not trying to call you inparticular Mark, I was juststating that one transmission in question was a used Ford unit, and I am not sure that the warranty is transferrable. there is no telling how hard the previous owner beat on it. I'm not saying you are throwing out BS either. But I have seen several of these threads, as I am sure you have as well, and more often than not they are 2nd hand platitude speak. I appreciate the fact that you did point the thread starter straight to the horses mouth, But you must also understand that 99% of posters in transmission threads are not simply passing on info, they just have an axe to grind. Sorry if I took your post the wrong way, but it looked like seveal of those "axe grinding" Posts I have seen in the past.

Now, back to the matter at hand.
fact of the matter is, they ALL (ATS, DTT, SC, GBT, HTS,) break, diffrent HP levels, diffrent parts etc. My advice to folks is, go with a builder tht is close and one that you trust. And get them to tell you what you need. I have seen folks beyotch up and down about a crappy "X" transmission that they broke racing, and then you find out they were launching at 25 lbs without billet shafts.

Well, I beat on mine pretty hard, and the only way I managed to hurt it was to use the Bully Dog Tq Managment program and spike 45psi of boost while staging. I don't expect any transmission to hold up to that.

Lots of drag racing, on and off the track, plus a sled pull, and a lot of show boating and it ran flawless. I expect the same from my new one.

Suncoast Transmission

Had an overhaul of my transmission back in March and internals were upgraded to Suncoast. From what I can remember - - - the transmission was upgraded to a triple disk torque converter, new valve body, new shift kit, and some upgraded springs. Absolutely no problems ! However, with the upgraded springs, each shift comes with a pretty noticable shift (it'll jump soda out of my cup holder - sorta). I don't know if I would do the thicker springs again - - but it doesn't slip at all ! Shop is located in Tolland, Connecticut and is highly recommended. I would recommend the Suncoast.

Suncoast TC and VB

Had my Suncoast TC and VB installed at 36K. I pull pretty heavy loads, 12K to 14K, when working and a 10K fiver when playing. I estimate that I am pulling a trailer about 50% of the time. Now have 100K on the truck and am very satisfied with the Suncoast. Don't intend to be an ad for Suncoast, this is just my first-hand experience. LOL. ;)
