Sorry to hear your trip home was such a Headache. Makes me wish I wasnt online so late saturday night... :{ :p

I was just trying to say that your subliminal message was working. :-laf

I'm not sweating the truck. It's all good. If I can get a pump in time, I will put it on this weekend.

The pump had to go sometime! I'm just glad that I wasn't stuck down in Georgia with no way to fix it and no way home. With a load of gear and motorcycles in the back !

Which would have been the case if I were headed to Bike Week.

Hiya rabbittree,

We had a good day in Derby. Tool Man took a pic with my camera and if it comes out alright I will post it. (the camera is still in my broken truck)

I'm in PA. The truck is in NY. I mentioned Georgia because it could have just as easily quit there on my way to Bike Week. I was driving my old Ferd one year and blew a tire out at 80. I thought that somebody shot the truck with a shotgun. Rubber was flying through the air and I had my hands full trying to get the truck off the road without having a rig flatten me out.

I have to deposit a check this afternoon. When the funds clear I'll be ordering a pump from I. I. And just as soon as the pump arrives I will drive out to NY and put it on. The truck is safe but it's outside. I hope it's not in the single digits when I have to work on it.

Thanks for the offer.

I will be in Fishkill. Maybe after I get the truck running, I will buy you a cup of coffee. ?

Tool_Man_Tim,

Hey Rabbittree,

Thanks for the wrenching offer. I wouldn't put you through that though. I'm only changing the VP while it's in Fishkill NY at Ketcham Motors.

But if I'm done early enough I can swing by your neck of the woods. Otherwise

I'll see you at the January Meet -n- Greet. You're coming right?

I live near Pittston. Highfinance97 lives in Clarks Summit. Did you check out the PATDC thread? He's on there.

And it was 3 below? No thanks. :p

I'll shoot you an e-mail. I don't want to hijack their thread.

BTW deo thanxs to you and Rabbitdaddy I am hooked on muscles now :-laf We hit this joint up @ moheegun sun called the crab shack . . Let me tell ya it was an expensive lunch :-laf :-laf

I am very disapointed, no one took any pics, and it sounds nothing crazy happened like beer rockets from the fire place. Well any way.

The Saga continues... .

Wednesday evening my new VP arrived. I pick it up at my brother's house and eventually head home. My car never made it. I couldn't make it up the long "driveway". ( It's a private road that has been plowed, but it's icy. )

So I was up late Wed. and up early on Thurs. digging the car out. After that nonsense I head to NY to do the pump.

The pump changeout went well. I needed longer bolts for the gear puller. My new buddy helped me out with that. ( The guy that saved my bacon when the truck first broke down )

BUT after the pump change the truck wouldn't run well at all. It was hard to start, smoked bad all the time. It was missing. Low on power. Idled erratically.

Thursday had come to an end and I still couldn't drive home. Finally found some grub and hit a hotel. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.

Friday I met up with the father of " therabbittree" . The man is a class act.

And he was more than willing to help in any way possible.

I left out a lot but here's the summary:

When I was on my way home from CT I had made a fuel stop. I picked up a load of bad fuel. It finished off my tired VP.

After the pump change, adding fuel conditioner, topping off with fresh new fuel, it's looking promising.

I never did bring the truck back. I have to make one more trip to NY to do a fuel line upgrade. I just can't risk any problems with the new VP. The stock lines and fittings are too small for the mods. And maybe the Carter pusher pump is getting tired.

Anyway, I should be back on the road next week. :)

I know it's blurry, but I was really moving!

'Torque This' let me take a spin in his ride. Check out the stack on that baby.

And that's a Bud in my hand. :) (It's off road, it's o. k. )

Merry Christmas everybody!

Dtroy, Tell me; Was that fuel stop a Citgo in the town of Naugatuck, CT? I started to buy fuel there last summer (2005), Wasted my VP-44. Not making the connection, bought some fuel there lastr week, Gelled fuel :( Thought the new VP-44 failed, Towed the truck back to the shop, Found out it was gelled fuel. The shop's owner asked were I got the fuel, Told him, and he said that "That Citgo is well know for bad fuel. I must have changed 4-5 VP's because of them. " WTF!!! Moose00

Hiya Moose,

It was the exit just before the Stormville N. Y. reststop going West on I-84. That was the 11th. It wasn't snowing or raining.

Friday the 23rd I was driving the truck. It wasn't running good. Plenty of smoke and low on power. And it was a mild day. Well above freezing.

As soon as I added conditioner it made a difference. I topped the tank off with fresh fuel and that made it even better.

So my guess is water contamination. And since it was a dry day, their hose or tank was at fault. I wonder how many others were affected. :(

FWIW I buy ALL my fuel at either the Citgo in Thomaston or one just up the road from my house on Rt 4 in Torrington.

I never had an issue but then again the VE is not particular what ya try to pump thru it.

Speaking if that I guess it's about time to change the fuel filter... I sort of forgot to do it last year... oops!

Jay, I see in your Sig that you went to CT Emissions :) The complaint about the Naugatuck Citgo is that the owner maybe adding Junky Diesel to the Citgo shipment. In fact I normally use the Citgo in Shelton. CT. I had just strayed from Shelton in shearch of cheaper fuel. I had put 225K on my First Gen's VE mainly on Citgo, in general and in Shelton mostly :D Moose00

Naugatuck Citgo on New Haven Road is owned by Berkshire Petrolium. They're the "cheapest" (2. 67 a couple of days ago) around in the mid-valley area - a LOT of over the road trucks get there fuel there. The same company also owns a Birkshire station in North Haven near Costco (if there still there as it's been a while since I've been by that area)...
