Surprised a few at the drag strip tonight.
Went to the street legal drags tonight and counting me there were only 2 diesels running. A 4x4 Duramax with a chip and a six speed. The first time I beat him by a truck and 1/2 length, but he was catching up fast. The other four times, I could beat him to about the 3/4 way mark, then he would pass me easily. Beat me by about a truck length each time. I just didn't have enough to hold him off in the end. (He was launching in 2wd. )
Another kid, in what he referred to as a pumped up Chevy S-10, said he has beat diesels before. He got his rear handed to him by at least 3 truck lengths. Same thing with a lowered VW Jetta. Even though his exhaust tip was bigger then mine.
They were not using a time clock, so I'm not sure what my ET was. I was running consistently at about 88 mph according to my speedometer. This is a 8 mph improvement over 80 mph runs I made the last time I went. I changed fuel plate, injectors and dv's. EGT's were about 1400* on each pass.
A buddy of mine was there so I gave him a ride. He weighs about 275. My time slipped to about 85 mph. We went up against a older RX7 twice. Each time my front bumper was at his passenger door all the way down the track. I think without my buddy in the truck I could have beat him.
Even though I didn't beat them all, I got a thumbs up from a lot of people who were pleasantly suprised to see a 6900# 2wd peg leg fighting to the finish.
