Right. Once you see it and think of the process it must have taken to produce it, then take into account the low production numbers since it's new- and you can see why the high asking price.

There are plenty of other power enhancements that provide more :D for the $$$, so it's one of those enhancements you have to believe in and want to do. Me? I was in the mood for a power enhancement, but after my airbags I was little burnt out on wires, cutting or any other warranty-altering modifications. The TAG is quick, easy, benefit is immediate and noticeable, it's easily removed for warranty work, but I doubt a technician would ever have cause to look there anyways.

I'm not sure Dave will ever be able to substantiate his claims with hard core dyno proof, due to all the "at-speed" benefits which make up half the claims. I think that's why he relies heavily on customer feedback and testimonials.

Those of us who have one are all :D so far and I don't remember seeing one negative comment to date from someone who's took the plunge and bought one. That's saying something, isn't it?

I've been running the TAG for about 10K mi. now, and getting . 5 to 1 mpg gain in fuel mileage empty. Its hard for me to tell diff. in mileage when towing, because I never pull the same trl. twice, I pull anything from 30 to 40'. But it seems I'm getting at least 1 mpg better loaded. It spools quicker, I took it out for a short trip, and I could tell the diff. running empty it runs 50 to 100* less egt's, and about 4 to 5# less boost, on a level straight run. I think its a good inexpensive mod. JMO, I'm keeping it.

You hit the nail on the head, we have found it almost impossible to get any sort of meaningful data from the inertia dynos that would indicate the at-speed benefits and performance of the TAG, even though they are substantial and can readily be felt in the drivers seat. Maybe a load dyno would show the TAGs performance changes more effectively. Even without significant dyno results, the benefit to driveabilty, lowered EGTs and loaded mileage alone make it an enjoyable, worth while addition to our trucks.

I must say I am most excited about the emissions results. If emissons can be lowered enough using a simple device like the TAG, then maybe Dodge could offer high output trucks in California and other states. Also if these emissions are lowered enough it might allow the elimination of the Catalytic converter on some trucks.

:-{} Boy did my last comment stir up the pot. I've worked industrial maintenance for 17 yrs and work with our machine shop on a daily basis. So I know all about production cost and R&D. Just wanted to see if everyone was awake out there. I gonna run the "theory" by a couple of our engineers this week and see what they think(they all have turbo diesel, just none of them were smart enough to buy a Cummins, so we'll see what they say):D Thanks for the feed back:p

Only question I didn't get answered was about future production changes? Likely to happen? Or ya like what ya got ?

I too have one of Dave's tags on my 03 Dodge and so far it is noticeable. The very first tank of fuel showed a 2 miles to the gallon bump in mileage and the turbo seems to pick up quicker. I pull a 35 ft. 5 th wheel and I am going to do some tests pulling a good size hill with and with out the tag I will get back to everyone after and report my findings.

TAG equipped and loving it.

As I have said before the truck just runs better with it in than with it out. It is snappier with it in and the egts are 50-100F lower depending on the driving conditions. I have tried both ways with and without and I am convinced that it enhances turbo performance. I now have gages on every thing, Edge EZ, Aero turbine and an Afe. The TAG is part of the total package and this combination is super. 22MPG hiway 18. 5 town empty and the truck just eats mountains pulling my 12K 5er. I am happy! Oo.

First production sample TAG

Just got the first production sample of the TAG with welded flange and thought you guys would like to see a photo. They will not be available until November, but at least you can see what they will look like.

David, is this one supposed to better than the one I have? I'm definately not going to remove mine. every little bit helps. When I get a new box, I will try with and without and let you know.

Should be the same performance as the one you have, but the mounting and installation is easier. Thanks for your feed back and I look to hearing about your experience with the TAG and your new box.

TAG News

The good news is the TAG is finally available for Dodge Cummins trucks 1994-2004 and the install is very simple. The bad news is a limited supply is available and production costs are higher than expected. We will be holding current pricing for TDR members at least for the time being.

TAG ??'s

1. what is the current TDR price? The one listed on the TAG site or the one above? (know you cant post but if the site price is correct w/o TDR discount - then how much is the discount; 15%? [wishing])

2. if there are updates (within reasonable time) within the next xx # of months, can we upgrade w/o extra cost other than shipping? (lets say for argument 6 months?)

3. what guarantee do we get - 30 days money back?

4. what if the TAG is combined with the Tornado? (swirl the air at the filter and then straighten it out at the turbo?) Any thoughts? Anyone try it?

5. limited supply - what will be the wait if we "miss" the supply now?

None of the above is asked to demean the product or the mfg of it. Just pure curiosity taken me over in the short span of time to read this. May be "off-track" on some of the questions, but they came from "top-of-the-head".

If you think I am interested, YOUR RIGHT! Looking at the mpg gain and lower temps.

Ben Stair,

1. The current TDR price is posted on our site.

2. We do not expect any significant changes to the TAG any time soon, so I guess the answer tot he question no, we would not exchange old parts for new.

3. What we are doing is if for any reason you are not happy with the TAG performance in the first 30 days, return it for a full refund of the cost of the part. We will ask you what the problems were and why you did not like about the TAG, so we will know exactly what is going on.

4. You are welcome to experiment with all kinds of combinations with your truck. I have not done any experimenting with the device you mentioned as its concept is contradictory to what we are trying to accomplish with the TAG.

5. Limited supply means that we will most likely run out of TAGs by tomorrow and most likely about 2 weeks to get the next batch made.

Please feel free to call me with any questions about the TAG and I will do my best to answer them.

I'm excited about these. I just ordered one and had a long talk about design, manufacture, and reaction to them. No wonder the phone was always busy--Very happy toanswer all questions.

Thanks for the reply and it sure helps when someone is willing to answer these "dumb" questions :D.

Tag and Tornado

Ben Stair

I tried one of Dave's plastic prototypes on my 02 and soon after also installed a tornado at the intake "horn. " As for results, the results of the TAG are not even comparable- I had an early prototype. The reason I am replying is this - THE TORNADO CRACKED WITHIN 15K MILES - had I not decided to take it out to try more testing - I would not have found the crack. One of the "vanes" damn near came off! That would have been bad! I could see no results with the Tornado and sent it back. By the way, I was told by Tornado to install it by removing the vibration coupling and inserting into the intake - it would not fit so I tried to make it tight in the couple - just not a good way to install the thing.

Dave

If your reading this, Howdy!

My truck is still stock. Need me to test one on a 100% factory truck?(Except for Amsoil fluids throughout). I still pull huge loads of hay almost every weekend.

Two VERY contradictory ideas. And when look at the quality of the tornado with your own eyes, it's a little creepy to think about putting it pre-turbo. I guess the TAG would catch the big pieces though :D

Also, I'm a little leary of anything that says "AS SEEN ON TV" on the box.

Bit the bullet and ordered the TAG. Will find out how it works @ 9k' and in the mtns of CO (Slum/Spring Creek area). Hope for an improvement - 'specially in mpg's. Would like to get into the 20's more than once every 4-5 tanks and stay close to it. Yes, the y2k spoiled me compared to the 3g. Know its no comparison due to wt and length and different eng config. Still would be nice to gain on the mpg's and possibly the power. Will try it w/o the ring first and then add ring later to see the diff's.

I ordered one yesterday also and feel the same - I am looking for MPG. If there is an increase, it will eventually pay for itself.

By the way - the Tornado is supposed to swirl the air to make it more turbulent so the the fuel vapor is mixed better with the air prior to ignition. On gas engines, it is my understanding that it is mounted on top of the carb (of course everything is fuel injected now) and did cause the fuel and air to mix. I have a freind who saw results on an older car many years ago. Tornado told me to mount it between the intercooler and the engine - not pre turbo. Again, the theory was to try to help the air mix better with the fuel. Of coarse in hind sight - I don't think that you can maintain any kind of turbulence through the intake manifold then through the valves on the Cummins. But hey - money back guarantee- it was worth a try.
