2nd Annual NoVA Meet & Greet 9/16/06

OK. So far it seems that this Saturday is the worst possible day for a first meeting. Like I said in my first post, I had intended on getting this going much earlier in the year. When I set up the 12th/19th, I was wanting to have something before the Christmas shopping traffic tied up Roanoke. I also wanted to get in before the weather gets too bad.

So having said that, and not wanting to have a meeting where only a few could show up, is there any problem with a January meeting? Everyone has all kinds of schedule changes during the holiday season, so I kind of wrote off December. How about it? I really want a good turn out for the first time.

Please respond as to a good time frame for you.

May I suggest 11/19 as a first meeting, even if only a few can show up? It doesn't matter if not everyone can make it to every GTG; what matters is *having* the GTGs. We won't succeed if we keep delaying until everyone can make it. Put the meets together. Those who can attend, will. Those who can't, will wait until the next one. In time, we will all meet each other.

The DHRA awards banquet is 12/3; I'll be heading to IN for that. Outside of that, my schedule is fairly open for a month or two (once I get home from Houston).

Let's schedule GTGs once or twice a month. As we get to know each other, we'll learn each others' schedules. Even if only a couple people show up, it'll be good.

I have just gotten a call from my Mom, and my step Dad has taken a pretty bad turn for the worst. I am heading to West Virginia for the near term and will have to see what happens. I will be able to check the boards and email from there.

From the input I have received, the folks closest to Roanoke seem to want to go ahead with our alternate date of 19 Nov. Just to get things going and plan on getting more participation. I am not sure that I will be back in town by then, but will do what I can.

Got to meet Dave from Blacksburg yesterday. We got his truck inspected so he can get Va. tags Very nice 3rd Gen! Hope to be able to meet the rest of you soon.

I'm going to try to make it,, my new gas burner my be in my then (switched back to the dark side) or if i can make it i'll bring over a new 06 so ever body can take a look

If i cant make it,,, keep me informed,,,, my new 06 is a hemi but i've still got a few 12valves

TREY DRESSLER

DRESSLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF COVINGTON

COVINGTON,VIRGINIA

Saturday, November 19th

Western Sizzlin' is supposed to have room for us on Saturday to eat lunch and meet. I made tenative reservations for about 20 folks. Can we get a count to make sure that is enough? I don't want to be short of space for those who make the trek in... Thanks!

Put me down as a Maybe, the 19th is the first day of Rifle season. So if i don't kill anything I will be there. If I do kill something I won't be there.

Great! I'm glad some folks are deciding to Meet, Eat, & Greet. We'll get this thing organized and have some fun as we go along! Anyone else out there planning to come???

My step Dad has recovered somewhat. I just got back from a Richmond trip. I should be able to get down there. Count me as a Definite Probably!! :-laf

Edit - Hey, BoxyD!! First of all, Welcome to the TDR!! Secondly, welcome to our local club.

I was just through Appomattox today. I always come back from Richmond/Petersburg on 460. I can't say that I've seen your truck before, but will keep my eyes peeled now.

Would love to pop on down from the DC Metro area, but plans are shakey on my end. So little to do and so much time to do it in OPPS! reverse that. So much to do and so little time. I ping on Friday if I can work it in.

OK. In case you folks get an alert from this thread, we have a date for our next get together. It will be Saturday, Jan 21. No time or place yet.

I posted about the 1st meeting on this forum, and put a couple of pics there. I am making a email list so I can send out notices that way.

Keep an eye out on this forum. I think we can have a pretty decent club with the number of CTDs in the area.

Oh yeah, we still aren't definite about the name. Currently using Blue Ridge TDR.

Any suggestions?

Oh, yeah. Thanks for the reminder. :) I've just prototyped a 'Blue Ridge Dieselheads' logo. Still work to do on it, and when I get it presentable, I'll post it here for comment. I used 'BRD' because the letters combine nicely with the background. Also, BRD reflects my leaning toward brand neutrality. :)

Okay guys sorry i missed the 11/19 date that was the first day of rifle season, i just couldn't do it, and i bagged a buck opening day. But i am all up for the 21st of Jan. if work allows i haven't checked that far ahead on my calendar but will today sometime.

Fester you will be proud i did it, she is a 92 and not sure which model either LE or what but she has power everything, mirrors, locks, windows, cruise. . the reason im not sure why is all the molding inside and out is missing and it was painted a shadetree job but not bad, I think i got a deal, a kid that had just gotten a job offer in Charlotte, Nc. he used it to pull a 30 foot trailer doing metal roofing and i think his intentions were to redo the truck but the job offer came through and his dad told us he has put a ring on a girls finger so I think i came along at just the right time on this one. She is Stout to say the least, now i know why most of the guys prefer the manual over the automatic, the W250 feels like it has more umph than my 2000 with the 215Hp engine...

But i am for sure in on the BDR i am Mountain born SouthWest Virginia and i will die the same... of course im 2. 5hrs from salem/ Roanoke area, im in between the Blue ridge and the Appalachians now which truck to bring to the meets :-laf
