Autoworld Dodge in Petaluma California ROCKS!!

I took my truck in for the first time to a dealership to check over a few minor issues that bothered me. Be it I had bought the truck second hand and purchased the Maximum Care 100k / 7 year warranty from this dealership 2 days after I bought the truck in Nov 2008. So, I set an appointment to come in and have them do the H46 recall inspection and look at a few things that bothered me.

1. I explained that it wanders and steering is a full time job.

2. I told them the auto down feature on the drivers window does not work.

3. Said I feel a slight shudder after I drive a bit and start moving again.

4. Told them I was convinced a pack of finches live somewhere underneath as I hear chirps and peeps when I drive under 45 mph.

5. I voiced my concerns about water being able to get into the fuse box thats under the hood as the hinged portion had cracked off.

6. I said the drivers seat lumbar knob fell off and has since then gone AWOL.

Well, Four hours later the service advisor called me asking if I wanted to pick the truck up and set a date for service or leave it and have them start on it. I asked what was going on and she said:

"We are replacing your: Steering box, Upper and lower ball joints, U-joints all the way around, Track bar bushings, TIPM Module, Drivers window / mirror switch module and a knob for the lumbar adjustment for the driver seat. "

I was silent for a moment knowing that the $2400 I paid for the Max care warranty had just paid for itself and a half!! I was waiting to hear of any gripes about the intake and filter setup... She said... "The tech says you have some electronics"... . I explained to her that I am the second owner and I do not have any electronics on it. I told her I brought it to them 2 days after buying it and it was checked out and given the green light for an extended warranty... . Even though it had 37,861 miles on it (Factory standard is 36k). She said "Okay" and then mentioned the tech said there was a intake and filter on it... . She said "Thats no big deal". Then she went on to say the truck would be ready buy Tuesday the 7th as the TIPM was not in local stock. Then she reminded me my deductible was $100. 00 Oo. .

I bought my truck last truck from Lithia and most people I know bought there's from Autoworld , Lithia was ok not great, the people that use Autoworld are still happy with the service, Jmill on here still goes there for his truck

I go to Lithia SR for the lifetime oil changes that came with my truck when I bought it used. Even though the service manager is a very nice man, there service department has never impressed me too much, and they even once overfilled the crankcase by a quart that I had to drain when I got home.

In any case, I am do for some warranty work and maybe I'll try Autoworld. Thanks for the current update!!

Yep, Autoworld in Petaluma still rocks. Back when I started this thread I still had my 2006 QC 2500, Now for the past 2 years I've had my 2006 MC 2500 and they've done warranty work (Ball joints, Steering box, Nav unit and transmission work) all without a hassle. The parts department is great, They'll match any price I bring in or just flat out give you a great deal, Ask for Leonard. And for all of you who balk at extended warranties..... I've put both my rigs under MaxCare and both times it has paid for itself double. I've got 46,800 on my rig now and I am covered until 70k or 6/21/2013.

On an 05 ? Please explain how you are getting warranty work on a bought "used" one. .

I thought it was 5yr. /150K power train, 36K 12month bumper to bumper but it's been a while so maybe I am incorrect on the miles and length of time frame.

Even though I bought the ruck used from a private party, I also was able to purchase a Chrysler MaxCare Extended warranty from a dealership after I bought the truck but BEFORE it's factory warranty was up.

At the time, I bought the longest warranty that there was available, a 100k/7 years from date of manufacture (whichever comes first)... . it is going to expire in June of this year, though I did just find out that if I want to, I can extend it even more as long as I do it before June.

I am going to research the price and decide whwhwether I will extend it again. On the one hand I am ready to do some mods that would likely void the warranty, but on the other hand, I think that the next 2 years might well be an expensive phase in fixing the truck as it gets older and parts other then the might cummins fail (like ball joints, blower motors, wheel bearings, u joints, seat motors, etc. ) which means depending on the cost of the warranty extension, it may be worth it to put off the mods for another couple years. I have to think abput it becuase I have an HE351ve turbo takeoff from a low mileage 6. 7 motor that I am just ITCHING to put on and see what it does for my trucks fun factor.

In any case, as long as you still have a Chrysler factory warranty, it should be possible to buy the extended factory warranty.

Ah!. Well, no warranty for me, 7yrs old this month, 246K, mods too. Glad your's is doing good so far. BTW, increase in PSI w/6. 7 turbo ? You might ask others in the know if beefier head bolts are needed or any other important factors related to boost.

Good luck.

Rob

No, I can keep boost pressure within oem specs... if I want to go much higher, then I can also also use a GDP wastegate kit to keep drive pressure in check.
