The truck is a 94' 5-speed with only 76k miles on it. . problem is, 3rd gear makes some noise almost like bad syncros after the clutch is disengaged and you are rolling {below 1500 rpm} then goes away. The question is will fully synthetic oil help these grunts and groans out? or should i just change with regular oil. . and what weight oil does it take, thanks!

dont use regular oil. i made this mistake but fixed it after 2k miles. the factory calls for castrol syntorque but the dealer whats like 16 bucks a qt for this stuff. i ask this same question not long ago and ended up going with the redline mtl. lots of guys here are running amsoil products too and i havent seen anyone unhappy about it. it was like 7. 50 for the redline and 10 bucks for the amsoil. thats pretty low miles to start having problems though.

not trying to be a smartass but have you checked the fluid level yet.

good luck to ya

You can get the syntorque for about $50/gal from Standard Transmission in Fort Worth Tx.

Accept no substitutes.

You can run syntorque if you want to run overpriced oil. Redline works just fine but you should run half mt90 and half mtl.

You are looking for 75W90. Amsoil Series 2000 75w90 is what I have and have had 0 problems since running it 78k miles ago.
