Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Synthetic Powering Steering Fluid?

Any suggestions for a Synthetic Powering Steering Fluid?

Valvoline SynPower, it is a blend but it works good for me, even down to -10*F. Full synthetic ATF would be my next recommendation.

I want a full synthetic so RP it is, have to drive 2 hours to get it. Valvoline synpower is all I can get locally

For what its worth

Lee Racing in Calif rebuilt my steering box when I owned my V10.

He told me not to run Synthetic in the power steering as it ruins all the bushings and seals. And funny thing, that is all I ran, and it started leaking after 10,000 miles. Thought I would mention it.

I've run Amsoil ATF in mine for 35,000 miles now. No problems.

I'm using the Valvoline synthetic blend. I used to occasionally feel a pop/clunk when making hard turns to the left. I have not experienced that feeling since I put the Valvoline stuff in the pump

If it ain't broke don't change it. I think you can get to slick with this stuff and end up with a problem. Engine is different, extended drain intervals, bombs, etc. may require synthetic but not the steering box. JMHO and it is very humble

Since I have a new steering box, first one at 36k and now another one at 51k, I was hoping that synthetic PS fluid *might* prolong the life span, since all the internals are PS fluid lubed



I recently added an PS cooler to the return line on my 2001.



While they were installing it I noticed ALL the 2003's have HUGE PS coolers.



BTW, the trac bar (replaced at 36k) is FUBAR again and not covered by the diesel wrap

I got it off a 95 Dakota, cut the bracket off and made my own to mount it under the radiator. I have an air deflector to help direct air through it. The cooler has the correct angle for the lines to face the PS pump.

The 2003's have the PS coolers in front of the radiator BTW.



Hook it into the fluid return to the pump with 3/8" or 5/16" transmission line. If I had it to do over again, I would mount it in front of the truck in cooler air.

TD, I have had 4 trackbars covered by the diesel wrap... ... .



Maybe you need to try another dealer?

When did you buy your policy? I checked out my actual contract and the FRONT trac bar is not covered but the REAR trac bar would be



front wheel bearings arent covered either, they must have wised up and excluded them after you bought your policy
