Cool, thanks! I'll take a look at it this weekend. Would you happen to know what size of flat washer I need? And what is the "cotter pin"? He listed "plain" or some other generic term, but I thought there were different sized cotter pins.

CB,

The flat washer won't need replacing unless it's missing & that spring washer won't either unless it's missing or broken.

The size of the cotter pin... just use the bigest size that will fit through the hole in the shift rod or use the one you remove as a sample.

The only parts that wear out is the bushing & the shift rod itself could get worn out if it's been allowed to be run without a bushing for a long period of time but I really can't imagine that.

Trust me... take it out & look at it. It's so simple you might want to get your wife to do it for you!:D :D

Whats the big deal CB "improvise" chances are the hole is worn a little along with everything else.

Get under there and jiggle around. Find something to take up the slack.

Even one of those super small bungie cords around the shifter to the carpet or ring around the boot base will prolly do it.

Most hardware stores have drawers full of spring washers and teflon thingies.

It ain't the space shuttle. Why spend big money and wait for factory stuff that didn't last the first time around?

My $ . 02

Hey guys, I just tried to order those exact parts a couple of weeks ago and they are no longer available from Dodge... . at least not in Canada anyway.

I fixed my noise some time ago by popping the insert out of the middle of the shifter and filling the void with small shotgun pellets and RTV sealant. Then put the insert back in place. It changed the harmoic characteristics of the shifter.
