Got my seventh recall on my 2014 3500, pretty much the same as the water pump recall, no parts yet.It said is exists in certain 2014 3500's. It seems my truck can slip out of park into any gear.

just to make sure i'm understanding you, you can take your truck out of park without pressing the brake pedal?

You are not restating the recall information...correct?

Even if he could take it out of park without stepping on the brake, he'd still have to pull the lever to him, out of the park gate before the lever would move. No slipping into gear. Talk about a mountain out of a molehill !

Last week filling at a diesel pump, a lady driving an older Power stroke left one of her kids (looked like her youngest in an idling F250) ....looked like a toddler in the truck. The kid was trying to climb back and forth around the front seat. And found the horn and started honking the horn. Found a whole bunch of entertaining things on the dash like the windshield wipers, etc. I was wondering if this was a F250 model that didn't have all the safety switches engineered into it. I know neutral start switches have been around since the 80's or earlier. But I think the safety switches for the auto trannies may not have been required on all models. The lady came out with what appeared to be her other approx. 6-8 year old and some gum/candy and a few other items. I was standing clear of the Power stroke just in case it hopped into gear.

Sorry.Yes you can shift it out park without the key in the ignition or a brake pedal application.

No mountain here just stating another recall , just one among many.Just passing it along ,just got it yesterday. No real concern to me, just another trip to the dealer.

I should of explained it better ,but no good deed goes unpunished .

The bigger problem is when the solenoid fails and you ca not get it out of park.

I don't know about that, someone leaving a kid in the truck, and it getting pulled out of park sounds like a pretty big problem. I'm sure not everyone uses their park brake like they should, if they did ,no it would not be a very big issue.

You can’t cure or legislate away stupidity.

You can’t cure or legislate away stupidity.

The kid was way too short to reach the brake pedal. And too young to know that there are pedals. Just looking at the safety feature that is supposed to prevent a vehicle from inadvertently being put in gear.

I've also seen dogs in unattended vehicles moving around.or.jumping around while the engine is running.

Parking brakes fail. And I've noticed that my 2013 must have a spring somewhere in the linkage because I can easily push the pedal to the floor. A spring is less sturdy than a cable running the entire length of the linkage.

Just seen this on another forum..so whats the deal about waiting on parts?

Got the Park, Shift Lever/Brake interface Recall done today. Took less than a half hour at the dealer. This is a software update/fix, no hardware required.

According to the recall notice, it states that the BTSI locking pin may become stuck in the open position. sounds like hardware issue to me.

Just went on ,and checked my VIN # ,and the parts are now available for the recall, so I should be getting a second notice at some point..
