Suzuki Samuri w/Cat Diesel engine

Before I went on vacation last week, I decided to change my fuel filter. I just so happened to have one of those plastic combo cups handy from Taco Bell, and I thought, "Hey, what a great size to snake in and catch the canister's fuel!". I then proceeded to put the 1/3 full cup on the shelf in the garage, went on vacation, came home, opened the garage, and the cup was about 1/2 it's original size with the lower half being completely gone! :--)

Word to the un-wise (probably no one but me), don't do this unless you want a mess of diesel in your garage!

Yeah, diesel will eat through one of those wimpy plastic cups in a matter of minutes. Better use something a little tougher next time :D

A funny story about cups kinda off track tho. Back when I used to run the big 40" plus 5 and 6 color printing presses we would ask one of the newbes to get us some blanket wash, we would give him/her a styrofoam cup, bout half way back from tanks the press wash had eating the cup. Funnier than you know what. Oh well, had to chime in on that one.

gasoline in a windshield washer jug is no good either. . my friend went to get some gas for his mower and used a windshield washer jug instead of a jerry can. went for coffee after that. went back to his car and wondered why it smelt like gas. popped the trunk and the jug was empty. it ate a hole through the bottom. .

nick, gas must not eat all washer reservoirs.

How I know: Mexicans taught me. When the fuel pump goes out on your gasser fill the washer with gas and connect the line to your carb, you're ready to roll, you just have to keep your finger on the washer button and fill up often.

How my Mexican "mechanic" friend determines if the problem is really the fuel pump: takes a mouthful of gas and squirts a stream between his front teeth into the open carb while someone cranks it over. Says that regular unleaded tastes better than super. Dreads backfires.

These are true stories, living in Mexico for four years was full of learning experiences, the people are extremely resourceful. Learned how to make battery cables out of baling wire, that it doesn't make any difference which type of spark plug you use as long as it fits and that a "borrowing hose" is for filling a flat from the three good tires or a parked rig.

it probably won't eat through the resovoir, but it did eat through that walmart super cheap $0. 99 4 liter washer jug... it could have just been real cheap plastic. .

Did that ever happen at the Illflem Orchards in Wenatchee???

The "borrowed air" is a new one for me. Talk about being resourceful :D

jumpstarting

... without cables can be done on older cars with metal bumpers. Just have both cars touching and take the tire tool and hit the pos. on the batteries. I have never done it, but I seen it done by some mexicans in South Texas.
