PDR HX35/HX40 adapter questions...

Single Turbo + External Wastegate Question

Okay guys - just have to post about this... .

1) Yes, I would like to pay for a cheaper price, but we already have a TDR discount ($149 for non-TDR members)

2) Think about it a bit... Assuming for the following: 10,000 miles @ 1. 48 per gallon and the TAG cost $135 ($129 + $6 for shipping)

Stock truck produces 19. 0 - total gallons is 526. 31 for the 10,000 miles

Stock truck using TAG produces 19. 5 mpg - total gallons is 512. 82 for the 10,000 miles - results in a savings of $19. 96 per 10,000 miles - TAG is paid for in 67,600 miles

Stock truck using TAG produces 20. 5 mpg - total gallons is 487. 80 for the 10,000 miles - results in a savings of $56. 99 per 10,000 miles - Tag is paid for in 23,600 miles

Okay - I know that this is a very generic look at it, but if my math is correct (and thinking) - it wouldn't take too long to pay for the TAG. Of course the higher the mpg difference and the higher cost of fuel, the quicker the pay off. As in some other threads on TDR, it shows that TAG has a bigger mpg results when loaded than empty.

Just my thought and very much thinking of just ordering the TAG right now.

WOT - the ball is in your court

I tallied the responses as of about noon PST. I tried to be conservative in my interpretation of the responses in order to have two categories. The Definite group says they're IN or would buy it for hoped-for price of $100. The Interested groups says they would consider it, they get excited about group buys, anything but a firm commitment. This is the tally:

Definite 16

Interested 13

My question to you is, is this enough of a start to warrent contacting the vendor and negotiating a deal?

Thanks,

Neil

Dealer Contacted - have price

Talked to Dave @ Diesel Power Products. He gave me what I think is a pretty fair price (close to my target #), although he said he prefered not to post it on the website since it is a "special" price. PM me for the details. We need 20 pieces. Here are some details about how they are made...

There is a lot more to building the TAG than most realize. Each of the honeycomb cells is connected to eachother with 2 welds, then they are EDM cut into a circle. The holders and flanges are laser cut, rolled and welded together and the last step is to furnace braze the entire part to make it one piece and extremely strong.

I PM'd everyone who has responded to this point with the price. As of now I have recieved 3 PM confirmations (makes 4 total including myself). I just sent Dave an email to ask how he wanted to handle it - will post when I hear back.
