Hopefully, now with diesel going through the roof,a market will appear enticing the tire manufacturers to create a 34. 5" x 9" x 16-17" E rated tire for us. Especially for us G-56 guys and the 4:11 NV5600 owners. Hopefully,it'd lower the rpms while requiring minimal throttle increase and get these suckers rolling. Bring on the pizza cutters!:)

Want a set of Michelin XL 9R16's?? I'll sell mine. Awesome in mud, snow and stuff but scary as hell on pavement. I bet they'd be much better if they were siped.

For those of us with 3rd gens, they got to be 17"...

I really liked my 255x85r16s on my 99... 33. 5 tall and about 8 inches wide.

Let's just say it makes the ride a little more "truckish. " OP never asked about that, though, just the height and width. Yup, load range "G". They're also harder to overload, if that matters.

Ideal tire

I researched heavily for the same tire - looking for something that will fill the wheelwell, but I didn't want add'l width. I stumbled upon a tire size Toyo just started making - their Open Country MT 285-75- R 17s. According to their web site, the actual size is 34. 1" X 11. 6". They are load range E, and I paid $ 275/each delivered from tread depot.com. They balanced easily and ride great.

That is the perfect size tire, how is the ride on the road, roadnoise, mileage change? How is treadwear? Do you have any type of lift kit? Do they rub when you turn? I may be buying a set of those soon, thanks.

How about a side shot of your truck with those new MT's? I'm putting 3rd Gen wheels on my truck and am trying to decide between the 285/75/17's or the 295/70/17's.

285-75s

I'm having a little trouble uploading pictures this morning. Here's a thread where I was more successful (See step bar link below). I have no rubbing issues, my ride is a little better due to the taller sidewall. I'm not sure about the mileage yet as I haven't had the new tire size entered into the OBD yet. These look great; they should have come stock. I found them at Tread Depot.com for 275 ea. delivered.

Coalsmoke

I just purchased TOYO 255/85 also last year and now have 20k on them and have been really happy with them. What have you gotton for miles out of them? At 20 k it looks like I will get 40k easy and maybe 50k.

I have about 80,000kms on them now, (50,000mi) and I just checked them with my tread depth gauge and am at 8/32" where stock is 18/32", which means they have about 40% tread left, or 30% actual usable life left since the wear bars are at about 10%. Now, keep in mind, my truck is loaded to the max and sees a lot of rock and some rough off-road conditions, but these tires take it all in stride and I've never had a puncture out in the bush yet (knock on iron). I think I'll change them out for a new set in another month or two. They just take so dang long to wear out I can't wait any longer:-laf
