Tappet cover seep/leak

Any significant negatives to tappet gasket leak besides grime buildup on left side rear of engine? My goat, she a weekend warrior now. Thanksgiving to all you knowledgeable Members! Patrick

Yes, if you don't fix it, it will get worse, to the point of dumping oil. What happens, is, they get dry, hard and crack. Note the cracks in the picture.

As you can imagine, it is a big job, as the injection pump needs to come off.
