I'm sure that some of you will have some good advise on my problem. As you can see by my signature, I've tried to properly set up my truck to pull my 10k fiver. The valve body was the last item to be installed. Prior to that install, I was getting T. C. slippage under heavy load (which I avoided). Since adding the V. B. , on start-up I shift into any gear and about a third of the time its like its in neutral. Then I rev up to about 1100 rpm and let off and then the power gets to the wheels. Also sometimes, I stop , like at a city stop sign, and when it's go time it's like the results on start-up. The transmission check out OK for T. C. clutch debris when the V. B. was installed. What's going on:confused:

Are you sure the fluid level is correct? Here is the procedure. Engine running and in neutral, truck on level ground, pull the dip stick and wipe it off. Replace it and remove to see the fluid level. If the trans is not up to temp the fluid should be at the bottom of the hashed marks. At the top if warm.

Other than that, she is sucking air. Did you put the correct filter on it and is it tight. I hope you didn't over tighten the valvebody.

I also want to mention that if you have over heated the converter and warped it, there is only one thing that fixes it--replacement.

And NOT a stock one. DTT or ATS or Suncoast are all holding up well and come from good people.

Hey, thanks Fox. You caused a wake-up call. I assumed that the mechanic that installed the valve body also brought the ATF back up to full. Wronge. The moral of the story is dont take any thing for granted. Thanks again for your input.

Hey Mopar . The ATF was 2 quarts low. What do you think about the prospect of damage? I can't think of any other reason that the fluid would be low other than it wasn't replaced when the VB was installed. No apparant leakage, ie: no spots on the drive way and no excessive coating on the transmission pan.

Thanks for your input---Dick

Since I brought the fluid up to where it should be, the problem in my first post has dissapeared. I just hope that there is no latent damage that will showup later.

All the add-on's seem to be doing there job. With the TC locked up the EZ really shows it's stuff. Now I just have to get the EGT's under control, but that will be a whole new thread.

Thanks to those of you who replied, It got me to thinking and probably some of the 3 to 4 hundred who looked in on the thread learned something too.
