I would be more worried with the catalytic converter life than the inside of the engine. You will definitly increase the emissions and my harm the system fairly quick. The industry still uses a fair amount of zddp in 2 cycle oil. It will plate out in the converter and shorten the life.
Just use a additive that is designed for this. It will be cheaper than TCW 3 oil. Besides now that we are having to produce ultra low sulfur diesel, most are adding a lubricity agent into the fuel.
First inoperable then it would lead to restricted flow. We see this with passenger cars that don't get regular oil changes. They start to wear the rings and burn oil. First thing that goes is the converter.
