genoes says velcro, anybody have any other ideas for mounting the grille badge? its a nice little emblem, i dont trust velcro to adhere to that plastic grille for too long.

Just had a reply from Geno's about same subject. Velco is good but don't trust it for this. Tried JB Weld, second attempt seemed to hold until I installed badge on grill when it broke loose from JBW. Though JBW was supposed to be good. Will try epoxy next. Would have perferred to purchase a Grill Badge with a bolt or some other form of attachment manufactured into back side of badge. Nice badge, but needs a strong method of attachment to grill.

Good luck, we need it on this one.

I just applied 3m badge tape. Holds like a rock... ..... so far.

Whatever you do don't go stupid like I did and try to weld two screws on back side. Blew two holes in it, and now have to order another one. I knew better.

fmj,to late , i tried the samething.

Ok, just mounted mine today: since it's pewter you CAN solder to the backside, but low heat from a small brazing torch (Ahem, my first attempt will be going fishing with me!!) I sweated a 8-32 T-nut to the back, which seems very secure. I threaded in a piece of stainless rod with loctite. Passed through the grill, I then put cup washer, spring, and nylock nut on the inside. Tensioned up its held in place but has some shock mounting (and you can clean behind it)!

Lots of tips & tricks in one of the initial posts after the new badge was discovered at Geno's
TDR Grill Badge
Hope the link works. Sometimes it takes me a couple of tries.

Shoe Goo. Shoe Goo should work fine. Smear some on the badge, smear some on your grill, wait until both are dry to the touch and mount. You'd ruin your grill removing it once dry...

Ian.

think ill put mine on the rear corner of my back window with the 3m tape. this outta give me a clean smooth surface and should look good. thanks for the tips.

We need a standardized location for the emblem. I don't have time to do a walk around a Dodge Ram Diesel looking for the TDR emblem. Especially when cruising on the freeways at California speeds!
I would suggest the top left corner of the grille. Open to other suggestions.

PS:
I filed the head of a stainless steel bolt flat, roughed up the back of the emblem, cleaned up with lacquer thinner. Used JB Weld so far so good.

Well there seems to be a lot of these going to be placed on our trucks so I guess I'll have to call Robin at Genos and order another one. I don't think they'll buy that I recieved it from UPS with this giant blow hole in it. Dieseldoghouse might have it right, it'll make a good spinner bait.

I think on the back of the drivers mirror looks ok and very easy to spot.

Mounteding Hardware

I drilled a #27 hole and countersunk this hole in the center of the T"D"R. I mounted my Emblem/Badge in the standard location with a 6-32 Flush screw, wood washer, and nut. I then painted the screw head with white model paint. Can't even tell it is mounted with a screw until you get real close.

Here's what I have used several times on items such as this. Clean the back of the badge with 150 sandpaper. Scrub it good and clean to get rid of any contaminates and rought up the surface to give it "tooth". Do the same for the head of a 1/2-20 hex head bolt. Length is not critical, 3/4 to 1" Now that both mating surfaces are good and clean, Supe Glue the bolt to the back of the badge. Let it cure overnight. Come back the next day and mix up a batch of JB Weld. Apply it liberally over the bolt head and down onto the badge surface to "encapsulate the hex head of the bolt. Let it cure. Mount in the designated spot with a flat washer, lock washer and nut behind the grill. Tighten gently to depress the lock washer fully but not overtight. Close the hood and admire your handiwork!

Todd

I bought 2 TDR emblems and 1 TDR Hitch Cover. I mount one of the emblems on each door post. Take a look at the pictures. I felt more people would see the TDR emblem on the door post.

To mount my TDR badge I used an elevator bolt, they are flat heads almost the size of a fender washer, I scuffed the back of the badge and the bolt then used permatex epoxy to bond them. I then cut a rubber gasket to cushion the badge from my plastic grill.

I called Genos like 2 weeks ago leaveing them a message that I would like to get 15 or 20 of them and they didnt return my call. O well I guess.
