Hey Santa!!

:) HINT: Wouldn't it be cool if all of the previous TDR magazine issues would be put on CDROM?

I bet there would be a lot of interest in such an item and I'm sure it would sell well.

cd rom

i, for one, am all for it. would be nice to be able to look up stuff in back issues... ..... how 'bout it, tdr admin????

html format

I've got a coupla other mags that have years of back issues on CDROM (Linux Journal and SysAdmin for example) in html format. Seems like a pretty slick way to do it to me anyway.

If the TDR mag copy is all on hard drive somewhere in . doc format, then it could easily be converted over to html. A little tweaking here n' there would be required. At least from my experience anyway.

Great way to get the info out! And I bet it'd sell at $49. 95 like hotcakes! :D

I'd be interested in this too-it'd be pretty handy for reference and a lot easier to store than a stack of magazines. Been there done that ;)

Copyrights....

There are serious copyright implications that come into play when publishing on CD-ROM. Its probably one of the main reasons you don't see all the major magazines on CD-ROM. Why should someone subscribe if bubba down the street lets them copy their CD-ROM?

cdrom mag

The idea is to put all of the previous issues on CDROM at the end of the year. Frankly, I think that TDR mag would generate more revenue this way. I know that I'd be interested in obtaining all previous issues of TDR and CDROM's would be the most cost effective method for all concerned.

And yes, these CDROM's would undoubtedly be copied, but the same happens now with the paper version.

If a guy wants the LATEST news and events, they'd have to subscribe to the magazine.

This seems to work for trade journals and the like, so I've got to think that it'd work here.
