Merry Christmas to All!!

I thought I would put a feeler out here to see if there would be enough interest in a plinking event. There seems to be quite a few shooters here in the area and on TDR. Maybe sometime in the Spring would work. There is a spot down by Buffalo Creek that people go to shoot. Or if everybody is up for a drive to the Chaffee County Range (up between Buena Vista and Salida), we could do some long range rifle shooting, clay pigeons and some pistol shooting.

I would love too... ! except when i get that far away is usually because we are running Carnage trail... . Is the gun range anywhere near? Maybe take a long weekend... .

Rattler,
Been through Ky, on my way to W. Va. and back to Colo. I know how you feel about that drive!

The range is probably 10-15 mins south of that area where Carnage Canyon is. I guess we haven't really decided if that's where we're going yet. I am open for any suggestions about where to go.

We always go watch the rock crawler nuts-(no offense!) when we go camping up there at the end of the summer. Fun to watch. My oldest son did part of that trail on his dirt bike.

... There's nothing like a day on the range turning money into noise!

Those days are long over for me.

5 years of competitive IDPA shooting, and now I've taken a serious interest in the AR15 platform. I'll shoot a mag running drills, then check my target for score, tape up the misses (outside of acceptable hits) and repeat for the close range (7 - 100y), and likewise with my DMR out to 600y (longest I have ever been able to find a place to shoot). A day at the range means I leave sore from the workout.

We can figure out where everyone wants to go as it gets closer to Spring. This is my suggestion, but I'm open for other ideas.

Here is a Mapquest satelite photo of the range between Buena Vista and Salida. It's on the north side of the landfill. In fact you pull into the driveway for the landfill then make a quick left (north) to get to the range. If you follow the little dirt road and then go left, that will take you to the handgun areas. If you go right, you will go to the rifle range and shotgun area. The rifle range is where the little green roof is and all the cars are parked. To the north of the rifle range is the shotgun area where more cars are parked.

Guys, as embarrassed as I am to do this, I think I'm out. Given the ammo situation and how hard it is to come by at this time, I don't think it's prudent to go plinking and use what I have. What are your thoughts?

The proposed destination was a bit too far for me as it was.

Never mind what the uppity D-bags in the state and federal law making positions are doing to the sport/recreation/hobby/defensive training. Hypocrites, every damn one of them.

So glad to see that the Sheriffs are taking them to task on this. Recall demands should have started on every one of the congresspersons in December when all this got tossed in the mix.

See you on the boards.

Ditto what Sticks said.

I think we should leave it open for now. Let's see what kind of madness is going on this summer. We may need to change it into some sort of "preppers" meeting.
