transporting a car, and getting paid...question...

single rear wheel VS dually for Goosenecks

Don't know if this is appropriate place or not, but I for one would like to thank all those members that have taken the time to fill out the form with info for the TDR Travel Companion. And to those members that put down 100 miles or more, may I suggest they be cannonized as saints. I recently had a "Road Angel" come 500 miles to rescue my fanny in VA. Wouldn't accept a dime. I'll get him though, we use the same Diesel DOC in Angola, IN, Dave's Diesel, I'll just leave an envelope with Rick and tell him to use it next time Dallas is in his shop. All Dallas ask for was if he called I return the favor. I dropped a trailer in Aurora, CO Friday morning, noticed I had a message on my cell, called it to find Dallas was broken down in Michigan. I called back and ask for specific location. . . that I'd pat honey on the fanny and head for his location. While on my way to do the pettin, er a patting, I got another call from him saying he'd solved the problem and didn't need my help. Good news for me and wifey, I been out for 6 weeks straight. But when my current TDR arrived and I saw the Travel Compaion I thought the participants deserved a special thank you.

Cheers,

Steve J.

Hopefully you never need it, but its nice to know you're not alone out there on the road.

My Only complaint, is that the printed copy issued with latest issue doesn't give any names of who you're calling on. I'm not sure if this something that could be fixed in future versions.

Kev

Fix it your self when you get on your computer. go to the T/C and source the names and write them in. that is my plan. I'm glad that a printing was made. Iwas going to print the areas that i was going to visit anyway.

just my pennyy's worth.

I also appreciate the members who offered their srevices.

I am a bit disappointed that there is still not any information on towing capabilities of the member (bumper pull, 5th wheel, gooseneck, etc. ) If I am traveling, I usually have the 5er with me. Knowing who I could call to move it would be a big help.

Klenger, listing the towing capability is a great idea. Hope they incorporate it in the next edition. It could prove useful.

Jim, the Companion is not included in the Canadian mailings for some reason. Even though I am listed in the publication. Last year I had to request that one be sent to me. Again this year it is missing and once again I sent an email requesting a copy. Also we in Canada do not get the Geno's catalogs with our magazines.

It was explained to me that the Canadian subscriptions are packaged differently. Not sure what the reason is but I would hope that TDR change that policy for Canadian subscribers. We do pay an additional amount for our subscriptions and we should get the same information that US subscribers receive. Are you listening TDR??

Thanks Casey for the info on the Canuck mailing. I thought it was just me that didn't receive it. I also did not realize there have been other inclusions of mailings.

Re Geno's catalog I have requested a couple of times for a copy and they have never replied.

Maybe somebody could tell us what the secret handshake is! :D

Cheers Ken

You can download it here:

If you are stranded on the road, and can get to an internet computer, you could always check the list on-line.

OR-- down load the possable states that you will go through. Or just print the whole thing from the site AND search through it for where you are at.

just my penny's worth.

The problem with including towing capacities is that we don't have any of that data for the 600+ people in there right now. We'd have to start all over to include that information in a useful manner. With as many people in there as there are the majority would not have a towing capacity listed which you would have to assume they have none. I'll forward this message on to Robin on the canadian subscription issue.

names

I have started to fill in the names listed on the forum, into the booklet, so i will know, if i have to use it, who i am talking to, or ask for.

Also could the people on the list include a personal name, along with there PEN name? (would your child know your pen name if it was PIGPEN)???????

Steve; is there a way that the list can be separated from the way it is now and put in to state form? other than doing a state search as it is done now. It looks like it is listed as the people came on line.

is this list done manually? by Robin?

I believe this can be a valuable tool. just needs a few bug worked out.

Thanks to those responsible.

Marv.

No, the list is done by the users. Click on add at the bottom of the travel companion page and you can add your record. Robin adds any that are sent in the mail on paper. You can sort them however you want by doing a search, then putting an * in one of the fields, specify how you want to sort at the bottom, and turn the max number of results up to 999. That'll list em all out however you want. The names aren't in the print version because of privacy concerns as I understand it. It was based off of a travel companion that the BMW owners group does.

Clerical Error

There was a problem with this issue's mail out. A simple human error. We process and mail all international shipments from our facility in Atlanta. And when the envelopes were stuffed, the Travel Companion was accidentally left out. If you do not want to download a copy, please e-mail Tina at -- email address removed -- and request a copy be sent to you. She will handle it promptly for you.

Regarding the Geno's Garage catalog, they are not regularly mailed with the TDR to international addresses. No slight intended, but the freight for the magazine alone for most international shipments is in excess of $7. 00 per issue. International subscriptions are provided at a loss, so we do everything possible to manage the weight, and one obvious action is to omit the Geno's Garage catalog from international shipments.

They are glad to mail out catalogs to you, however. Just e-mail me at rpatton@ix.netcom.com and I'll have one mailed to you, or visit them on-line at: http://www.genosgarage.com and request a catalog. They have a part-timer who processes those requests every 7 - 14 days and for those magazines being mailed into Canada, they can take another 10 - 14 days to arrive. So they may not be ignoring you; it just takes time.

Hope this helps, and again, we apologize for the omission of the Travel Companion.

Robin
