Dealing on a 89 W 350 with 727 auto an tranfer case removed. Speedo only goes to 99,999, so I would like to hear eng. run. Question, will it be harmful to run eng. with torq. converter on or off. I think converter is still on it. Anyone have expierience with this situation ? thanks

Hmmm, I have run motors on a cut up shopping cart that was the stand without a transmission or converter attached. I can't think that it would be any different with one of our motors.

Obviously though, common sense needs to prevail here. If the trans is removed, and for whatever reason someone put the TQ on the back of the motor, take it off. Also, make sure the surrounding area is free of linkage and cables as these may get caught up.

It should be ok to run, but be aware it may bobble around a bit without the rear mount. be ready to shut it off so you don't damage anything like the fan, the shroud, or the radiator.

Yup, I agree... . there should be no major issues.

I watched a mocked up engine mount holding a 5. 9 with a 1 gallon container for fuel and no exhaust start right up... . 'course it was noisy as heck and even more funny to watch it walk across the shop floor... . pretty weird. . :D

Just remember that you'll have no coolant in it so keep it short.

When it became apparent that I was not going to receive the transmission adapter for my conversion (from a supplier that shall remain nameless) prior to the expiration of my warrantee on the engine I decided to fire mine up on a cobbled together stand. No coolant, no belts, no fan. Just a jug of diesel with supply and return lines stuck in it and a screwdriver to wedge the fuel shutoff lever open. I did rig an exhaust though since I wanted it quiet to listen for any strange noises. I had an oil pressure gauge hooked up too. I didn't run it more than few minutes. I was using a flexplate without the converter attached.
