going rate on hauling a boat?

I need expert help becoming a winter Texan. Last year My wife, myself, the dog and my Glide spent 2 weeks in the valley and I guess it was OK but we stayed 3 days in Kemah and 4 days in the Portland and I thought both of them had more to see and do. We are not yet into the planned campground activities unless it's cocktail hour or a group bike ride but we usually find those at the local Harley shop or just ask someone at a restaurant or bar. The reason I am asking you is there is winter Texans and there ARE winter Texans. You know the best places and the best people (and they all have TD's):-laf Please PM or leave a message here and I promise I will REALLY appreciate everyone's input. See ya all (see I am trying) in January. Oo.

It really kinda depends on what you want to do. Fish, hunt, drink beer and ogle pretty women? Beach, desert, hill country? We got it all, so need some guidance.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure how to answer about what to do, mostly to see Texas, maybe to find a winter place to stay in the future. Kemah is pretty cool in that you have Galveston AND Houston close and Austin and San Anton are not far. That is what I need YOU guys for. See this way if we don't like a place I can always blame it on Yall:).

Well, we shopped around and chose the Rio Grande Valley, that was a half dozen years ago and have never regretted the choice. Sold everything else and live there now. We travel in the summer, as I write this I am at Newark NJ airport awaiting my flight to Germany.

I have lived in Texas all my life. The area down around Austin, San Antonio and Houston is about the most central place you could stay. From that general area it's not too far to most parts of Texas. If you like more of a desert like eco system go farther west. If you are into more of a forrest go farther east. I would assume you are wanting to leave behind winter so I would stay away from the panhandle. Your reference to "a local Harley shop" leads me to believe you ride. Some of the best riding is south and west of Austin. If you will contact the state they have a travel guide that will hook you up with several different Trails in our state. I cant remember all of them but some examples are "Texas Lakes Trials" and I believe there is a Forts Trails and so on. Feel free to PM me and I will do what I can to help and maybe we could do an East Texas ride some time.

I live in Texas City just south of San Leon. A bike ride sounds good. Been itchin to ride but getting lot's of rain it seems like.

Okie-Go

Hopefully by the time we get there (Jan. ) Things will be dried out and Texas will welcome this yankee with warm weather and dry.
