Prodigy or Brakesmart better with exhaust brake??

Trailer length limits in State Parks??

I was fine and very continent with my 98. 5 2500 2wd. I've done a lot of lower weight towing (under 10,000) with no issues whatsoever. Then the day came when the wife and I found a 2005 Cedar Creek 36bks that we purchased from the bank for just over 17K. Lets just say it was not very pretty inside.

My 2500 did fine moving this 15K trailer around town, but how will it be on the road with the crosswinds in the California desert. I just did not want to change my underwear that often. After reading all the post for the past few months, and even though about jumping ship (4 letter F word) Settled on a 3500 DRW.

Tried to get the 6 speed Rear disc, but got a good deal on a 2001 5 speed 4x4 with ranch hands chipped with 4" exhaust, with the same mileage my truck had (180,000) Now all I need to do is get it home Oo.

My new truck is in Cuero Tx I'm in Los Angeles.

Anyone Know of a good inexpensive car transport Co.

I could not find a car transport service that I thought was reasonable and I finally went back to MI from WA to get a car..... What I didn't try was some LTL service.....

LTL = less than truck load... ... with this kind of service you pay for space on a flat bed trailer..... and hopefully there is something else on the rest of the 50 ft trailer... .

You want cheap huh? Go to uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Vehicles or Moves ALL KINDS of cheap effers there hauling for next to nothing, most of them illegally. When DOT confiscates your "new" truck because someone was hauling with out the proper authority and no commercial insurance don't come crying here! Hell, I got a red flag there 2 weeks ago for telling someone good luck with thier haul, hope you use a legit carrier.

Why don't you fly over to TX and drive it home? Someone on the other end will surely pick you up at an airport? I've seen many people have problems with the transport companies, some have had their vehicles impounded and had to bail them out, very expensive.

CD

I know what you mean. I am in the RV delivery sector and signed up for a site called findahauler.com. They charge $160. 00 to sign up as a hauler so I figured that would be better for me than uship but no luck so far. I have bid on at least 20 trailers so far but no luck. I refuse to go as low as I would have to to compete with the prices that they are getting. I won't hook to anything for less than $1. 00 per mile and one I bid on a few weeks ago went from Lake Oswego,Or to Midland,Tx. I bid it at $1. 15 per mile and the guy whose trailer it was said he got it done for 60 cents per mile. Completely ridiculous.

Exactly why I'm thinking of "hanging it up" at the end of the year. My Ram doesn't move for less then $1. 25 for ALL miles operated. Got a call yesterday as I was moving repos across town (1 at atime:-laf) on my single trailer, broker wanted me to take a car from Las Vegas here to someplace in upstate NY!!!:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf for... get this... . $770!!!!!!!! Sorry Biotch, only been working 5 hours today and I already made $600 and only put 121 miles on the truck as of that point, I was using my '93 to BTW! Jeff, you only do RV's or what?

Which is why you use a fully compliant USDOT carrier, costs more upfront, but if you want your "stuff" :-laf. . why chance it!:p

Pretty much all I do is RV's. I am leased to one of the big driveaway companies out of Indiana. The only thing I really was planning on using findahauler.com for was for backhauls. I get 90% of gross for whatever I find on my own.

At this point I may fly there and drive it back. I do have a concern about the "new" truck being mishandled, or misplaced.

I have been talking to one hauler, he seamed trustworthy, But everytime I talk to him his tow rig (F450) is in the shop or broke down. Glad I bought another CTD.

Let us know what you do and be sure to post pics of the new rig when you get home !

Off to Texas

My flight leaves LAX at 7am Thursday, I'll be behind the wheel by 3pm headed back to LA. With the cost of the flight, one or two nights lodging, fuel and food comes in cheaper that the lowest transporter.

The piece of mind knowing my truck is in good hands priceless!!!!:D

Now if I could only get some sleep between now and Thursday Oo.

You know how it works! When you get behind the wheel, in 2 hours you'll be falling asleep! ;)

Have a safe trip with your new toy! :D

1500 miles later

OMG Love the new truck. stock exhaust no CC or muffler, power puck and a five speed. Can't believe how much power it has, and 20mpg. I was even more excited to look under the back and see disc brakes. The experience was great, meet the prior owner, he change the oil before I got there!!! Driving it back was uneventable few storms in Arizona. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do with that huge ranch hand front bumper living in SoCal. EBay pays off again:)

What MMeier said!!!

Those bumpers may save your hide. They are strong. If you ever have a collision, you will be thrilled that you have them.

There are a lot of Whitetail Deer in TX. & if you hit one, it usually costs about $3000. 00 to fix the truck. With those bumpers, the deer just bounces off the bumper & you don't even have to slow down. When you get home, just hose off the blood & guts.

I drove from AZ. to New Braunfels, TX. to have a front & rear bumper installed on my '91. 5 W-250. Never once regretted it, either.

Good Luck with your new truck. It looks great!!!
