I would like to say thanks to all the members out there who post their comments on this board. About 6 months ago I became the owner of a 99 CTD and did not know the first thing about this vehicle other than the fact that it had towing power and sounded cool. My buddy suggested that I become a member of this site and soak in all of the info that I could about recurring problems and preventative maint on my truck. After taking his advice I have come to the conclusion that joining TDR has been the best investment I have ever made, outside of buying the truck itself of course. After reading through a ton of threads, and watching my Electrical fuel gauge bounce around like a kid on a trampoline I decided to rip the pile off of my truck and install a mechanical fuel gauge post filter. Most of you can see where this is going but I may as well finish. Anyways, three weeks after installing my mech gauge I noticed that my fuel pressure had developed a trend of dropping below 5psi. This concerned me since I knew that anything below somewhere around 10psi meant LP failure which if left alone would eventually take out my injection pump. Being a greeny I had no idea as how to swap a lift pump, but because of good folks on this site who have posted their triumphs, failures and recommendations while performing a LP swap it was a very easy fix. My wife even commented at how fast I completed the job. (Took me around 40 min alone) Thanks to you all, I will definitely be back for more advice in the future. :-laf
