Has anyone seen or heard of this product:

... . i was wondering if it's a worthy product before i buy it, because i saw a big rig oil filter at the guys' booth that had this thing on it, and it looked like it had stopped alot of metal junk from being cycled back into the engine. . go check it out and tell me what you guys think,Thanks! ---Greg

I have seen the same thing marketed under other names. Basically all it is, is a bunch of magnets that attatch around your filter so that any ferrous metal in your oil will cling to the magnitised area of the filter. They do work, but there is usually little to no free floating ferous metal in an engine unless there is a problem and usually that small amount will get caught by the filter pleats anyhow. Bearings wear very slowly, so slowly that your oil changes remove the material. But, all in all, the idea cant hurt anything, it can only help. If you have an extra $50. 00 to spend, go for it. Its just a little extra insurance especially for the members who go with longer oil change intervals.

You could probably get the same results with a couple of refrigerator magnets and some duct tape.
