Any mechcanical pressure gauge will work, we do make a gauge kit, it is part # 1030550

As Chris stated we can bury an 1800 degree pyro in seconds if we want, it's how long you hold it there that matters. What we can get away with in a 12-15 second 1/4 mile run is not what one can get away with while towing.

I have my probe pre turbo. Does that mean if I wait untill it reads 300 the reading post turbo would be 0? Just a question. Not ment to p*** anyone off.

Pre & post turbo temps can be a little as 50 degrees difference, too as much [as I have seen] 550 degrees. Cruising around or warming up an engine with no load there is'nt much difference, it's when you start pouring the boost to the engine that you see the bigger differences.

Thanks for the information. I was just wondering because I usually wait untill it drops to 300 before shutting the engine off, but sometimes it seems to take quite a while to get there and this is not after a hard run. Just normal around town driving. Now that the outside air is cooler, 300 comes pretty fast.

I have installed many Pyrometers on heavy diesel applications. Our rule of thumb was to always install post turbo and add 100'degrees per inch from turbo. This same rule would probably work pre turbo only subtract.

I use a 12v solenoid to switch my boost gauge supply line from the intake to the exhaust. The ebrake power is used to switch it when the e-brake comes on. It automatically switches back to boost when the e-brake goes off. All automatic, no extra gauge to buy and mount. Works absolutely perfectly. Only problem is you need at least a 50psi boost gauge.

E-mail me and I will help you locate the parts needed.

Larry- I already purchased a triple mount with tweeter and installed it with my new killer sterio system. From my last truck I had a 0-50 Ultra light-EGT-and transmission. Did not think when I purchased this mount that I did not need a 3rd gauge so to speak. I am just trying to fill up the 3rd hole with an Ultra light of some sort. Maybe a pressure gauge for the brake, maybe a clock. Not sure yet. Maybe an air tank gauge because I am planning on putting in some air bags for the slide in were getting.

Thanks for your concern and advice.

!
While breaking several rules this weekend, I had the "mule" up to 875-900*F (post-turbo)and 28-30psi.
(towing the untagged $50 trailer up some short, steep hiway grades @ approx. 95-100mph) So, my realtime temps were closer to 1500 than the 1200 that I was assuming. #ad

Fortunately, those blistering episodes were short... (but sweeeeet!!)

Well, in light of the recent TDR mag... . 10 years back, I thought this was a fun read. Kinda cool how much has changed since 2000.
