Competition sled pulling = hard on pilot/throwout bearings?

Off Roading Great Issue

In your guys' opinion, what are the top 4-5 diesel races throughout the country? If you would list them in order of importance, that would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

well i think that 2 of the top 5 would / will be thunder in muncie, IN and scheid's diesel extravaganza in terra huate, IN. I'm not a drag racer, but i hear good things about these to events. hope this helps. nick

Yes, thank you. We're trying to get an idea of where we MIGHT run this year, if everything works out. Thanks again.

I would say:

Truck Fest 89 diesel racers, 7500 spectators

Thunder in Muncie 200+ racers, 3000+ spectators

Englishtown has a truckin nats 1100 racers ?? spectators (this race is frustrating as a racer, good on attendance)

TS Performance All Diesel Challenge 100+ racers, 500-800 spectators

Like I said about Englishtown, that goes for all of the Big Rig races I have attended, with the exception of Truck Fest. I was impressed with the quality of that show. The one's at MIR suck, just because the track officials are asses. Depends on your goals, name saturation for the sponsors or quality races for you.

I wouldn't list MIR as one of the top races anyhow, but the guys at that track aren't asses either. You may have had a bad experience with them when you were there, but that track has come a long way since the last time you were there. If we ever had a turn out there where more than say 10 truck showed up to race, it would probably be different also.

Good point Ted, things change at these tracks quite frequently, but yes, the owner's son was an ass that day.

Eric,

Oh they have been an ass more than just that day, don't get me wrong here. Guess thats why somebody tried to torch the place last week. Got part of the new tower, and a food stand. Hope they catch the *******. For the most part they are pretty cool though. The truck events have never gone over well at this track, I don't know why though. We have local dump trucks that can run high 15's after hauling dirt, rocks, and whatever else they are paid to haul daily. Plus one of the fastest big rigs in the county is local. Smith Transport finally beat them this past year though, so he's second fastest now. They have gotten rid of the second truck event that they used to have here, so maybe it will get better now. Time will tell

Ted

Wow,

No matter how bad you don't like someone or something, it should never resort in something like that. That is too bad.

So, Ted, are you going to be hitting the tracks hard this year?

Eric,

Oh yeah!! Looks like I have finally gotten past all the bad luck that I have had for the past season and a half. Truck is running as good as it ever has. I have lots of ground to make up. With a sponsor or two now, I could run with those top dogs once again. Without, I will be nipping at there heels. Either way I am running again, and thats all that matters.
