Kat, what kind of EGT's are you seeing cruising down the road with 6-10 psi of boost?

With my HX-40 at the same speed, I'm seeing about 2-4 psi boost. But that's more because of the cam. This is with DD3's and UFM on 1,3.

Not all 40's fail. This one has been on since sometime in February, and has worked very well. I know there are more options coming up.

The PDR35 spools pretty fast, I wouldn't say it is slow or laggy.

Still undecided on the B-1 though. it may be tough, but lag is not fun in HOT weather driving. I'm sure I'll see some at MM02, to get an impression, though.

I usually see 750 to 800° with the COMP on 2x5, which is what I typically drive around with. Floored on that setting it doesn't go above 1150°. This is with BDIV's, I don't really remember what it was with the DDIII's.

Well, my bone stock HX40 has been on now for 10+ months and has ~21K miles on it, with zero problems. Even 10 or so trips down the 1/4 mile flat out haulin' tail.

I have always wondered if my EGT gauge is lying to me, because at the strip with my hot Comp on 5x5 with foot through the firewall, I have *never* been over 1200* on my pyro. In fact, I have never seen it over 1200* under any circumstances, ever..... and when people that have DD3's like I do, and a Comp or DD's UFM and the same or larger turbo tell me they hit 1500* or higher, I really wonder... ... ...

Well, I ordered the new series 2 SPA boost/EGT gauge from Brandon last week, and when it goes in, I guess I'll find out if the ISSPRO is lying to me. I remember an article in a recenmt issue of the print TDR that talked about pyros. I didn't read it completely, just skimmed it. I remember it showing how to test your EGT probe to see if it was in spec or not. I could be mistaken, but I thought the article basically said there is no way a probe can give a faulty reading, as it is a very simple device and will either read properly, or won't read anything. I think that's what the article said...

Hey, you guys that keep trying different turbos, anybody got a PDR35 or similar for sale used? Would like to try one, but not at full price. Also in the market for used injectors, if possible.

Thanks!

Good luck with that one. I think everyone that is associated with the development of the B-1 has signed a Non-disclosure Agreement.

but here is a question... what is the diameter of the inducer of the B-1, and what is the diameter of the exducer of the B-1

Probably will not get an answer to that one either.

Kat, how did your test go?

how did the B-1 spool from 0 boost at 1500 RPM in direct (3rd lockup)

when did it hit 20 PSI?

I haven't gone anywhere today. . I don't feel good, been in bed most of the day. Sorry.

Is that the specific info you want?

I may not get the info until in the morning, I really don't forsee going anywhere tonight other then back to bed.

yep, that is what I am looking for... . low RPM response. could you try it from a dead stop also with no power breaking...

hope you feel better

here is some info to tickle your fancy.

who would like a turbo with a pressure ratio of 4 at a flow rate of . 3 Kg/ sec and it tapers off to a PR of 3 at . 5Kg/sec

or

a PR 0f 4 at . 55 Kg/sec and tapers off to a PR 0f 3 at . 7 Kg/ sec

:p :p

I spent a hour on the phone with kurt last night. He has a turbo I want. Some kind of faster spooling B1. KSB1 is what I think he called it. I am gonna have it ceramic coated to help egt's. It will be at least a couple of weeks til I will have the $$$$$$$$. Little more money than I thought. I cant wait. I spanked the I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER out of a Porche yesterday but egt's were real high. Need more air.

FYI, The Turbo Greg is interested in is a B-1 that has a Housing we are preparing especially for AutoMatic trucks. We are still in the early stages of R&D and I am not sure how the Top End HP and Egt's are During WOT and Towing... . So far the Bottom end is incredible. .

Ya I have the AT-4 on my truck, however nuthing to compare it with... . on the track or dyno.

Overall driving it does seem to spool quicker. Floor It's opinion is that it spools alot quicker then the B1 did. I'm holding my opinions until i get it to the track.

I did do a burn out at Floor It's place, and I had to let off because the truck kept going sideways... . and I didn't really hold the brakes that much at all to get started. Also did one 4wd launch (only 5 to 10psi) and it felt really good... ... so I am inclined to say the turbo is spooling faster then the B1 was. The KS B1 is still under testing, I'm trying to see if that housing will fit onto my AT-4 ;)

How about around town?

Kat, how is the AT-4 when just driving around town? Does it spool quick enough to reduce the smoke resulting from off the line lag?

I'm sure that at the drag strip the B1 and the AT-4 are both great. But I am most interested in whether or not the lag [if any] will be annoying in day to day driving.

Thanks in advance, Greg L
