Another Phoenix CTD bites the dust...

uncle trouble....

Ok this is bothering me. In the beginning of the movie when the aliens go retrieve the Fifth Element and the stones from Earth because "they are not safe here", they take the statue and the stones.

BUT, when they "rebuild" Leeloo on the DNA machine, from the glove retrieved from the spacecraft, isn't that the glove from one of the aliens?

Or was the statue holding the case of stones?

Please help!

I imagine The glove was just that, A glove and the DNA was inside it. Leeloo was in a suit I guess... .

All Sci-fi's are wierd and sometimes you scratch your head trying to figure out what just happened. all in all I liked that movie. Liked the cars!! Park it vertical!! Funny stuff sometimes... .

I was under the impression that the glove was actually a hand? Now how they regenerated her as human form from the DNA is anybodies guess.

it's been a while since i've seen that flick, but the dna they showed on the screens was way complicated compared to actual dna, and them scientests said something about that also. i believe it was just a hand left in the glove after the ship was blown up... hmm, might watch that movie tonight... ;)

I can't help you with the opening sequence... but I've always liked that movie.

I have a framed 'Fifth Element' movie poster hanging on the wall of my apt. - does that count for anything? :)

The most memorable scene from that movie is Mila Jovich laying there naked in the booth that looked like a tanning machine :--) :--) . I'd have to get some of that DNA and clone a few for some entertainment around the house. Oo.

Look carefully at the glove and you'll notice one of the two handles from the 'stone case' is clutched in it. Later, you'll see the case is missing one of the two handles, so Leeloo was carrying the case of stones while wearing the alien 'spacesuit' when the ship crashed.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I know that but I just watched it last weekend.

I'm actually just trying to distract myself from the long wait for my new truck in November. :)

Right, so ALL of those aliens in the opening scenes were "5th Elements" or "Supreme Beings" as she later said. And the statue they carried out was just that, a statue. And since all of the aliens died, including her, they just cloned DNA from one of them, and since they are so complex, just cloned the DNA pieces that resembled a human.

Got it!

No. The Fifth Element (Leeloo) was the lifeform inside the sarcophagus (what you are referring to as the statue. It's like a coffin. ). The Mondoshawans (the strange aliens you first see in the beginning) are the caretakers off the Fifth Element and the Stones. When the Mangalores destroyed the Mondoshawan ship carrying the Fifth Element and the Stones, the only remains that could be retrieved from the wreckage was a gloved hand. They took the DNA from the hand and recreated Leeloo, The Fifth Element.

So where is the gloved hand from? The sarcophagus? The hand is holding a handle though.

Yes the hand is from the sarcophagus. Yes there is a handle, but what from I'm not positve at this point. I never paid much attention to exactly what the handle looked like. Remember, there were at least two cases for the stones (decoys). One was delivered empty to Zorg and another empty one was in the Diva's suite that Leeloo threw at Zorg, which he later found to be empty too. I'll have to review the DVD. I always figured once aboard the Mondoshawan ship she was revived from the sarcophagus and put into a space suit for the trip to wherever. She was basically human afterall. Perhaps the handle was from something other than one of the boxes, as in a handle on the seat, which may have been grabbed when they were under attack. And I think the reason the hand was gloved in the first place was a. ) it wouldn't be too gruesome (and maybe a threat to the PG-13 rating) and b. ) it would have given away the fact that the Fifth Element was actually a female (Leeloo's hand was far from manly, don't you think?). Before restoring the body, the Dr. and the General kept refering to the remains as "him" or "he".
