TransEngineer, is it possible to upload or "reflash" the 2012 codes/shift patterns to the 2013?

Unfortunately, no. The engine and trans software is combined in one controller (the PCM), so the only way one model year's software carries over into the next is if there are NO changes at all in the engine OR trans software (which basically never happens). The dealer scan tools (that do the reflashes) are programmed to only allow a certain (EPA-approved) update path. That is, they check the current software version that is in the truck, and then only allow a reflash with any "approved" update for that specific software version. For example, if you have software 4567AB it might let you reflash with 4567AC, but not with 2832AB (the software for the previous model year).



So we have to wait, and hope they approve a service flash for 2013.

As of now, the case is closed until a re-flash happens hopefully soon. If anyone out there hears or knows of a re-flash for the 2013 shift patterns, please let me know. Apparently my VIN will be tagged with info indicating so when its at a dealer( per dealer service manager) if a flash is available, the tech will be advised etc.

The only problem is I have never taken any of my trucks to the dealer unless its a major warranty issue, rear pinion leak , etc etc. I burned up all my down payment cash on this one so I'm stuck with her until the flash or I get rid of the RV, ie then truck. Have to much already on it to remove and go another route. As I said on another post, if I knew this ahead of time, it would have been a 3500 with Aisin... ... . A thanks to all those involved who helped on this issue. Much appreciated.

Now on to trying to get "real tow" mirrors on it so I can actually tow my trailer so I can actually "see" my trailer behind me, like I had with previous factory flip up tow mirrors.
