The NEW and IMPROVED? format stinks

I have been a paying member since 2000. This new format is a BUST! Plus, as a paying member, I sure as hell don't want to see "Ad Choice" or other non related garbage ads on the forum main page like I just saw.. Please go back to the old format!

The admin work done to keep the TDR up and running has always been appreciated. The background pictures now, as you scroll, are distracting and kind of "Chop up" the pages. I don't know what other formats you are trying but I never had any problems accessing the TDR on my laptop.

There was a huge amount of time put into getting a skin working with all devices. The reality is more and more devices are going mobile --- so the goal moving forward is modern responsive designs to support the devices.

Unfortunately there are issues with the old skin on devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Android phones/tablets which simply cannot be resolved. If we want to support more and more modern devices going we have to abandon the old skin.

That does not mean there can't be room for improvement and tweaks with this format. We will address those issues with this skin as they are reported. I'll take a look at the ad serving issue.

Laptops are desktops when it comes to how browsers render the screens, verses phones/tablets running iOS, Windows Mobile or Android.

I will look into the background issue, and discuss with Robin what will work as a suitable solution for it.

I've worked on the ad issue and it should be resolved. The ads should now be displaying for TDR members the way they were before with the difference that on smaller screens it should render smaller ads.

If you resize your browser screen down until the background image disappears and is replaced with grey, would something like that work better all the time? It so it could be an option I bring to Robin's attention.

I actually kind of like it. One quirk I've noticed twice now is from my phone JHawes post runs one word per line. Just double checked from the computer and his post shows up normal so must be something with the Android platform.*

One thing I'm not sure I like on the computer the background shot kind of filters through the individual posts. This is not the way it is on my phone.

Wow this Hurts my eye's to even look at and when I get to the end of the quote and hit enter the cursor does not move. The only time the cursor moves is when I type. I totally agree to go back to the last format.

Keep the reports coming, I'll try to address all issues. It looks like some like the site having a background image, others don't. I'll see if there's a way to make this a user option.

I'll try to duplicate the one word/one line issue. Do you know the screen size of the device?

When I wrote a post from my Samsung phone, it put a star (*) after every punctuation mark and double space. *I was able to go back and edit it later on the computer, but it may be something to take a look at. *

On edit, it is doing it off of my computer also. *

I kinda like it on my iPhone, but not sure if I like it on my laptop. It is busy. I really had no problem with the old standard page on both devices.

The enter key thing and the * I think has to do with one version of the editor (there are 3 with VBulletin), With the full WYSIWYG editor it works fine. I'm trying to track that down now.

Yeah I found that out after posting. Just what I need is the auto formatting, I will never get used to that because you do not see it until it is posted.

For me with that Ram in the background and the gaps between posts it makes my eyeballs spin. At 62 I am trying to focus on the posts and while scrolling to much is changing so it is very distracting.
