The Nightmare Continues...

Just the continuing saga of me and Zangara Dodge: Two weeks and counting. After the parts came in on day eleven, I had two wait three days longer just to get my truck on a lift so that they could tell me that they didn't order everything that they needed! Yesterday I was told that my truck would be ready this morning, so when I called today they gave me the bad news, and not to worry, the rest of the parts would be in on Tuesday. I absolutely snapped. After cussing out my service rep, I was on the phone to the GM. I told him that he needed to do whatever was necessary to get my truck up and running this weekend, and I didn't care how much it would cost to get a new transmission Fed-Ex'd from Michigan. He said that he'd try to get something done. My rep called and said that he'd call later this afternoon and let me know what happened. Of course he didn't, so when I called back to give him his daily a** chewing, he said,"Good news, we're going to put in a whole new transmission! You're getting very special treatment!" He then told me that the transmission would get here on Tuesday, and that my truck should be ready by Thursday. He was a bit confused when I didn't sound happy. I've got a 600 mile roadtrip to CA, leaving Monday, and I don't think that my girl, two dogs, Jet Ski, four guns, two coolers, and my golfclubs will fit into a Geo Metro! So after my yelling subsided, he promised to see what he could do, but it was too late to get ahold of anybody in Michigan at this time. I guess I should reschedule my a** chewings for earlier in the day.

Special treatment=drop your pants and put your hands on the hood.

Any ideas?

RR the only thing I can say is that your dealer is not up to par. My dealer had the transmission in two days, The tech who did the work(Roy W. ) did the job in one day, actually had my truck back by 4pm and my dealer gave me a new 6 speed to drive while mine was being fixed. Sometimes we don't have another dealer close enough to go to but if you do you might want to take your bussiness there... ... Pete

Reggie,sorry about your problem but you gotta know by now you getting the shuffle,just demand a free real truck,wagon,blazer or something big enough for your trip,then call bank or if you have financed with someone else tell them you need them to go after dealer. hope you get some help, jdm joe

My dealer offered me a truck to drive while my 99 was being worked on, but since i didnt really need it for anything. . i took a car, so if a fellow truck owner needed a truck, they could have it. I think you need to call DC, then maybe see about finding a different dealer close. Tell them about how crappy the other place is... 99% of the time, they will feel your pain, and help you out. I'm with Brian, call your local Chamber(sp?) of Commerce, they should be able to point you in the right direction of someone to ***** at. That takes care of the local area. Next, start calling all of the DC *****ing numbers you can find, go all the way to the top man... "Ja, dis is Dymler, vat can I dooo for yoo?"
I can sympathise. My mom took her 2000 ram 1500 in 22 days ago for a power steering problem. Turned out that a hose had let go on the PS pump. While they ordered the hose, they set my mom up in a Ford Minivan. Well, that night, some one broke into about 1/2 dozen of my dealers cars. 4 new ones, a CTD and my mom's in the fenced in back lot. They broke in by poping the latch on the sliding rear window and tried to hot wire it. They failed at hot wireing all of the vehicles, yet really screwed up the truck's interior. My dealer (Butler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Eagle in Beaufort SC) ordered all the parts which still haven't come in and are fixing it for free. My mom gave back the rental minivan and the dealer gave her a demo truck off of the lot to drive and take her kayak on a trip.
I think the dealers can be either real good or real bad, but that big DC itself isn't the best it could be. DC allows these bad dealers to have 5 star and let bad policies trickle down to the dealers, undoubtly causing some "good" dealers to become "bad" dealers.

When i had my 95 Chevy Tahoe in for service (third master cylinder in 1 year) they gave me a Geo Metro. I wish dealers would give you what you bring in as a loaner, or at least get close to it, how can you compare a Ram to a Metro!

Back in '95 I had some troubles with a dealer. They tried to give me a loaner of a Neon. I asked what the capacity of the Neon was because I was going to load 1700 lbs in the back seat. I received a free upgrade to a Buick Park Ave. It's not a truck, but better than a Neon.

The problem is with the dealer. If the dealer is behind you you will be treated great. DC alone is a POS and combined with a lousy dealer you can't help but get P'D off.

That is a good one, it made me chuckle. Dealers in the great white north have a plow truck, in the summer they can loan that to you, it even will have a real plate.
