LOVE my truck...

Picked up new 5th wheel today... here are weights

you guys keep your trucks too clean.
a couple greasy rags in the bed and some oil on the
top of the bed works pretty good.

You may have to park your truck on top of that
oily spot and have a good excuss.

Hi Andy
First of all it was great meeting you last Sunday - nice to have a visual to go with the name.
When someone asks me if I can help them out my first responce is "sure which way did you come in". Unless of course they are good freinds who will give their time to help you. I know the feeling and couldn't agree with you more.
Happy Trails
Bob

I have ran across a few dead beats but I never called them friends because friends would offer to pay and it was my choice to accept or refuse. Scratched and dings come with the territory.

A co-worker asked me if I would loan out my chain saw. I said sure "for a $325 deposit and dont bother bringing it back!" By the way he had never used a chain saw before. #ad

I have owned trucks for 15 years so far. The biggest bum I know is my dear brother. I have helped him move at least 7 times. This past summer, He wanted me to drive to the Sony outlet store to p/u a 55in. big screen. It was a 200 mile drive. He was saving 2K on this mutha. (it costs 5500 retail) I charged him 100 for fuel and he was pi**ed about it. I told him that I was giving up 1 day, and lots of wear/tear. He paid it. Will he ever help me???? No! Not once has he helped me when I moved. (only 2 times in my life. I hate to move MY stuff). Lazy Bum. He just bought a box truck cause noone will help him anymore.

I don't know what's worse, when they ask if you can help or if they just ask to borrow the truck!
I've kept the old ford as a loaner for those situations.

P. S. My wife and I agree, NOBODY'S borrowing the Dodge!

This is exactly why I'm happy with my QC and don't need a true four-door. Just enough room for me and my significant other; I have no desire to have a bigger payment so that someone else can have more leg room.

And how often has someone gone on a trip with you and offered to pay just 1/2 the fuel? I believe the custom should be riders buy ALL the fuel; the driver is still footing more than 1/2 of the total trip cost.

Andy,
Know the feeling. It was always take, take, take. They never wanted to give you anything in return. But sometimes it is worth if the job is important.

HC - I agree with you 100%. Whenever my wife and I go with my sister and brother-in-law out on their boat (usually only labor day weekend in Knoxville - "Boom's Day"), when we go by the gas station to fill up the boat, I always pay the total fuel bill. Why? So when the next time the chance of going out on the boat comes up, he won't give me the cold shoulder cause he knows I'll pay for the gas!

Besides, he bought the boat, how's $40 to $50 in gas going to hurt me? No big deal, but it makes him happy though.

It's funny, when you have a truck, people just seem to assume that it was made to move their junk. Whenever I get a request from someone I know is never going to return a favor, I just ask them if they are willinig to haul a load of sawdust for me in their car. When they answer no, I say, well why would I want to haul your junk in my car. End of Disscussion!!

We got a little trailer cause the wife runs food and stuff for the needy... if you ain't needy or kind **** off, life is too short for jerks, We like to help old folks, but if you can help yourself do it! The post with the chainsaw brought back an ugly memory... I loaned one out to a neighbor/friend, he ran it with no oil, after instructions on mix. Motor stopped dead so did friendship, "I would buy you one Mike but yours was old anyway"... **** you! #ad

Next time you see one of those 4' x 8' utility trailers, pick it up. I bought one 20 yrs ago & put 2x6 sides on it for hauling wood. Of course, @ that time, I didn't have a truck, so I needed it. Since having the truck, now I don't have to say "NO" to lending out the truck or helping on a weekend when we've got plans, they can use the utility trailer. #ad

Try being the oldest grandson/grand nephew with a truck and know how to fix things. The line I used to hear was "come on over for dinner(or lunch)and oh by the way could you bring your truck/tool box". To add insult to injury, my great aunt cooking sucked. No one ever got the hint so I moved from Ohio to Michigan in 1983, and only go back for special occasions, they still want me to bring my truck and tool box when I come and always have a list of things they want fixed #ad

That chainsaw "rental" prerequisite was great! I LMAO over that one.

..... sorry Rob I won't ask.

John... hauling that computer table was as much for me as it was for you! Keep sending those jokes! Now, if you could just learn how to attach things... . #ad

Around here, the worst part of owning a truck is listening to the people who call you a red-neck or country boy... and what do you need a truck for?... BUT, if they have something to move. . They say, HEY, can you bring that big truck over to my house... I gotta move something. . Can you come over Saturday?

Aside from that. . I generally enjoy helping people who I know really appreciate it. . As long as its not expected. .

This is all so true!!

Deezal Man, yep, living here in the big city I hear alot of that, "What do you need that big oversized hog of a truck for"? And the other one that i get tired of is, "why do you need a 4x4?"... "thats a waste, I can go anywhere you can in my 2x". . Gimme a break. wish I could watch that.

then, its funny when they give you the hint that they sorta could use some help hauling something... but wont ask. Dam* dummy i am, I end up offering. There goes that Saturday
Gotta love it. .

Classic yuppism subsides around my town too. All the guys my age who are "cool" or "in" drive the coffee can rice mobiles, I just can have that in my drive; can't use it. So I too get the redneck and hillbilly flak until one of these guys throws a rod or sucks a turbo on one of their 60mph "fast runs" #ad
. The truck and trailer to the rescue and you are showered love until their car is back on the road. I was raised to work with my hands which used to be respectable here, but now just another redneck with a pick-up ha ha ha. . . . done rambling. #ad
