Ok I am slightly confused. There are several different thermocouple probes available, can someone with Autometer gauges tell me which is the "proper" one for our trucks? I have an 01 2500 ETC.

I have the #4365 UltraLite EGT gauge but gotta buy the thermocouple, so any help is appriciated.

Wish I would have purchased #4345 #ad

Kat, I just ordered the Ultra-Lite part number 4345. I don't know how the gauge differs from yours but it says that it comes with a probe kit. The one that you want is part number 5249. That has a compression fitting. Should run around $50 more or less.

Kat,

Autometer recommends using themocouple probe part # 5244 with the 4365 ultra-lite gauge.

I had originally ordered this one, but sent it back for the street series T-couple # 5249.

Big difference in quality though.

Tough call about $45 difference between the probes.

Bite the bullet and get the #5244. Its a much higher quality probe. About $96.

Autometer E-mail:

Bill,

Yes, the 4365 is a 2-1/16" Ultra-Lite.

It does not come with a thermocouple. We have the following two models
that we recommend.

5244 probe with weld fitting and 1/8" NPT fitting.
5246 probe with integrated band (hose clamp). No welding required.

Thanks,
Matt

I ordered the autometer #4365 egt gauge, #4304 boost gauge, #5244 probe kit, and a #15203 a pillar dual pod from summit racing yesterday. The cost for all was getting pretty close to $300. 00. I saw a post for carparts.com and decided to check out the prices for the same parts. They were close to $50. 00 cheaper. I called summit and told them what I found and they took my phone number and told me they would check the carparts site out and get back with me. It wasn't five minutes later they called me back and said they would match the prices and they had all the parts in stock. I thought that was great. By the way, I talked to the autometer rep at the NHRA meet this past weekend at the Craftsman Nationals and he is the one who gave me the part numbers for what I was looking for. Also, I have never purchased the probe kit that has the band around the probe, but I am pretty sure that probe is made to go into a header tube and I would be surprised if it would work on the Cummins exhaust manifold that is way too wide. If anyone has this probe and it works please post it. There is a good difference in price between the two.

I originally had the clamp style for the header. It worked great in the elbow. Now that I have a exhaust brake, I have decided to move it to the manifold. I ordered the 5249 Street Probe. I haven't installed it yet, and then I ordered the Ultra-Lites. The part number for the pyro I ordered doesn't match the ones you guys have and mine comes with a probe. It is part number 4345. I got it from Jeg's. I'll have to see which one it comes with. It's on backorder.

I'm not clear on what the difference is between the 5244 and the 5249. I have the 5249 and it seems to work perfectly. I don't think anything else is necessary. What exactly is the difference between the two?

I am using the # 5249 now. It seems to work ok. BIG quality difference between #5249 & #5244.

Would #5244 work better? I doubt it. It would probably last longer though.

KatDiesel . . That discount code is the ticket. I saved over $70, since I can't list actual prices here, off their already low price. You're my new bestest buddy! #ad

Mopars1 . . I ordered the items you specified EGT & Boost gauges, the good thermo coupler, and Dual Pod mount. I got them from carparts.com . . used KatDiesels magic number . . and viola . . less than $180! since I can't list actual prices here #ad

3 day shipping to Louisiana included. I ordered this evening. Hope I didn't miss any parts.

Now if I can only find a fellow TDR member in my area with some experience drilling a Y2K manifold.
