All, I'm looking for a source to buy thermocouple probes, I don't need guages, just need to get the probes. I'm looking for K style probes that we normally buy for our trucks (solid metal shaft with insulated leads coming off wiht about 5' of cable each. I only need two more at the moment, but will eventually need 6 total.
Some other sensors I'm looking for are pressure sensors, and a moisture/humidity sensor.
In case your wondering what I need these for, well I'm starting my last semester of college this spring and going to start having a little more cash/time to get back into building my on On-Board Computer. I've already got a can bus to RS232 Module , will purchase a ODBII to RS232 Module after christmas, and will probably pick up this RS485 Module to handle Thermocouple and Sensor inputs.
I'm planning on tying all this together in a touch screen application that can manage mp3 playing, GPS navigation and live engine reporting. I'm also planning on having a datalogger mode where all the engine parameters are logged to a file and can then be reviewed upon completion of the run.
I'm also planning on making the engine reporting screen configurable so that if you only have one pyro, it will work, or if you have 6 pyro's it will work as well. You will also be able to name each item to your desire, ie: Pyro one could be Exhaust pyro and Pyro two could be Intake Turbo1 Temp.
With the way the powersupplies for onboard computers are today, you can have the computer start booting up after key turn on. Another feature I've thought of is adding in a fingerprint scanner, and if your finger print isn't scanned in X seconds after startup, to disable the engine (as some of you know my truck was stolen a couple of years ago).
Well, enough for now, time to get back to work.
Morph.
